P.S. this year’s Florida Dragstrip Riot brought out some very cool vintage drag cars. You’d be surprised what’s hiding down here in the sunshine ️ state.
I was very pleased at the turnout

  19. Cool photo ..Probably should be in the 57-58 thread though. Or maybe drag cars in motion.
Note the modern aluminum grandstand at Edgewater Park in Cincy..installed in about 1995.
Don't know what the S/S is ..Probably a nostalgia day class. ;-)

No Moody here. Rice and Holman (now just Holman) was a Ford dealership that started as Holman Automotive in 1924 in New Jersey. The business which is now based in Maple Shade, NJ was billed as the largest Ford organization in the east in 1958.

Maybe one of you guys can help me out. I’m looking for pictures and or a listing of the 63 dodge my uncle drove for Doheny (Doheny’s grandson). Per what I was told before my uncle died when Doheny got part of his inheritance him and Red Synder went to a dodge dealership in LA and bought a new 63 Dodge Stage II 4spd car. He said it wouldn’t start because the car Salesmen had fouled the plugs starting it for customers so as to show off.
Since the car had no warranty they had to buy plugs from the service department and install them themselves out back.
Apparently Doheny had lost his driver’s license from street racing so Red drove on the street and then on the track. From what he told me they were the fastest non sponsored “team” on the west coast.

That doesn’t tell much but if anyone knows of a hotrod mag or drag news that mentioned them I’d love to find it.

Red was a neat guy. He started as a teenager in Southern California with flatheads, had a 55 Gasser, FED and a few things in between including circle track cars.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks on advance!
