Hopefully, someone here can cut & paste the URL to this link. Go to Photobucket's home page. In the Search Box, type in "Haulers" Go down a row, about the third one in from the right, is an album by "danddtarp702" There are 215 photos of race car hauling trucks, everything from COEs to East Coast dirt track haulers to homebuilts to old professional NASCAR rigs. Pretty cool stuff if you've ever thought about building a rig to go with your vintage g***er, dragster or whatever. -Brad
...........And a highboy to boot! What a great link - I love Tommy Ivo's ugly Dodge haulier with Tommy astride in the roof! Awesome
That's pretty good. Heck, I ran against some of those northeast modifieds. I was always envious of the guys that had a dedicated race car hauler. There's one pic that shows the NASCAR boys in the infield at Fonda, NY Speedway. That was a stop on their old "Northern Tour". I think the pic is 1965 and Pearson won driving the #6 Dodge for Cotton Owens. I was there for the 1967 race and Petty won. They put on a fantastic show on that 1/2 mile dirt fairgrounds track. Allison was in his '65 Chevelle with a SBC against all the big engined Mopars and Fords. This thread is giving me some good ideas for the '47 Ford COE project I have stored alongside my garage.
This has to be one of the coolest EVER built, Mercedes Benz race car transporter....Mid 1954, could top 100mph WITH a race car on board! The original was desrteoyed, this is the 'recreation' as built by Mercedes in the 90's
What a great site!.That really made my evening. I really dig the jalopy stuff. Check it out guys, alot of cool stuff, old and new.
Here's a couple of shots of a Commer truck that hauled the works D Type Jaguars. B & W is original and colour is the restored truck
That site brought back some memories. Growing up in the South, dirt track racing was/is a big draw, and my Dad and Uncle used to take me to them when we weren't drag racing. I didn't see to many haulers like these at the drags - but they were everywhere at the dirt track races. Really cool site!
