I want to shave the handles on my 64 Valiant but of course, I need to be able to gain entry. I don't want to add electric door poppers, how do you route the old pull poppers and how do you manage to hide them? TIA
here's what we did on my sons truck.put latch mechanism in door post ,ran release out the bottom of the cab.
I wonder how difficult it would be to do that with the posts on the car? I'm really worried the rears wouldn't work.
could run a bike cable--brake cable-- from the latch threw the door, threw the hinge hole into either the front fenderwell or if you dont want to be all nealing down and what not run it in-con****uously to the front of the car were you coudl grab it threw the grill. that way you could just look like your making sure the hoods down tight or rubbing something off the head light. and with the cable itd be easy enough to figure out a way to put a lock on it just a thought tim ~you could also drill out your vent window locks and either put an allen headed bolt threw with the stockarm on the other side so you could just take the wrench and turn it open and stick your arm in to grab the handle. a little less hidden you could do preety much the same thing with one of theo stereo/display cabenet lock cylinders in the vent window. most old cars have the doorhandle in a perct spot to grab from the vent
I like the idea of running through the fenderwel and tucking it up to the front where it can look like I am nitpicking my car. Maybe I should just do the fronts and not worry about the rears. I mean ****, I never let a third person in my car anyway, and if I ever did I could just open it from inside for them. I currently leave my vent windows unlocked i case I lock my doors (key for ign doesn't match the doors) but I like the security of having them locked when I've got tools and such in the car.
i use choke cables as a back up to my electric soleinoinds just run them threw the door into the rocker or wheel well out of sight
