I need a mechanic in the south pasadena area to diagnose a car (60's cadillac)that has been sitting in storage for a long time, supposedly had a knock when it was parked,we got it started after 7 years and didnt hear it but was told it needed to be under load,I didnt want to totally ruin it if it is serious and would rather have someone look at it that knows what there doing that can diagnose it,maybe it is something simple?chnage the oil and drive it home! I know wishfull thinking but you never know! a 90 year old man had it maybe he was hearing things? anyone know of a solid dependable wrench/shop in that area (mission street in so.pas)? I live in orange county not familar with that area. thanx, xtralow
Try East Valley Garage in West Covina. Owned by Mr. Lou Gasparelli, a truly good ,honest ,Old skool mechanic. And a GREAT drag racer.
Try "Chopstix" on the HAMB here. He is a mechanic and works right next door in Alhambra. He could maybe check it out if that is what yer asking? KNUX!
Is this the 48-49 Caddy 4 dr that sits on Fremont on the west side of the street just up a few hundred feet from Monterey If it is, I have seen this Caddy there for years & wondered if it did run? seemed to always be in the same spot as I drove up to Carrows for coffee.. Give me a shout & I'll see if I can come check it out for you. Take care, Kevin
That is that Maroon and biege top 4 door I think it's a '55. I see that everyday too just sitting there waste'in away. KNUX!
I PMed Chopstix with no reply, anyone know of anyone else? Not looking for a freebie here just someone who's honest, trustworthy who knows there stuff and real close to this area.(I think I can drive it a short distance,I am hoping?) 53Burb and Cyclone: No this is a mid sixties caddy that is in storage on mission by the train stop. Thanx, xtralow
I talked to Chopstix. He has been out of town and has too much work ahead of him. If I think of someone else, I will let ya know. Good luck on that. Is that car off of El Centro? I have never seen it. I used to work at the Trader Joes down from there. KNUX!
Do a quick inspection yourself - it will save you a ton.... I had a 60 Cadillac one time and it had an ittermittent knock as you described. Turned out to be a cracked flexplate......they are a heavy sonfabitch and frequently broke them [around the hub where it bolts to the crankshaft.....]
Thanx for that heads up Choprods! will keep that in mind for sure! zazu: got your PM Thanx... xtralow
