Like many of the old dragsters in the 1950's, roll bars did not always go up to the top of your head, and in the event of a roll over, everything below your ears survived the crash. The same could not be said for the top of your head. And using helmets that were designed for polo players didn't help much either...

The lack of front brakes might date this photo to 1967 (or was it 1968?) when some of the “full street equipment “ rules were relaxed in Gas Coupe, Street Roadster and Modified Sports classes. Also around that time those last two classes were all folded into Gas class.
