i've got an 84 small block 350 that came out of a corvette... the block is bad i also have a 66 chevy small block 327, i was wondering how many parts are interchangeable? crank... heads etc? any info would be helpfull. thanks -Riley
crank will not interchange , `84 350 crank has large journals and the `66 327 has small the heads will bolt on , but may mess up your compression ratio....the `84 probabilly has very small combustion camber with dished pistons , the `66 has flat top pistons
measure the rod journal, if it is a small journal it will measure 2.0 inches if it is a large journal it will be 2.1 inches. 84 still has a 2pc rear main seal if I remember correctly so If the crank is a large journal everything should interchange. fwiw I would build the 327, probably has a steel crank and they like to spin a little harder. what exactly do you want to swap around?
pretty much the crank rods, possibly the cam depending on the readings i get off it more then likely im going to hock the cam though, other then that just all the minor things that nickle and dime you to death ill be changing the intake, pistons, heads, and a possible cam.
If it's a big journal you can make another 327 using a later 350 block. Just have to use the 327 pistons because of the sroke. jerry
You can tell if it is a steel crank by the parting line on the front of the crank by the snout. If it is really thin then it is a cast crankshaft, but if it is wide then it is a steel crank. Any way you can still make a awesome engine and a cast crank will hold 500hp. and about 6,500 rpm's
large journal 327's were a 68-69 thing ONLY. 66 will be a small journal. is it a chevyII block? they b different..... oil filter pad is higher on the block(as in not level with the oil pan surface) if so, sell it! and go buy a crate motor (or something)with the $$$ it'll bring
