I have a pretty good automotive library. they used to have a good selection at Barnes and Nobles... now they have mostly repair manuals in that section. books are too heavy for the soy generation to hold. if it can't be seen on a phone they are not interested

Mine is right here. I flip through it all the time. I don't think I'd sell it for 100 bucks, but if someone wants it at 250, we can talk. The best revelation in the whole book is that Junior Conway used to hang out with some beautiful girls... wow....
Yep, I still remember this book at the drugstore news stand, It has John Cassaubon's 1950 Ford in it, I remember how excited I was, His Ford was my first car !..Still had his car at that time. I still have the book.But the car is one block from me living in a garage.
Glad I have a copy - it's a really well-done book. Sad that it's out of print. I'm fortunate to have "Grease Machines" as well. Both are indispensable model-building inspiration.
Those T-birds are favorites of mine as well. The picture itself is kind of funny though; ratty looking unmoved grass with dirt patches. I'm guessing this is an outtake from a photo session. Would love to see more shots of those T-birds.
@Gotgas, thanks man, you're awesome and I'm senile. I made a post on that very thread! Something tells me I'm not the only one with a lack of memory around here though.
The guys that think the internet has it all don't know what they don't know. The internet is great but there is a massive amount of hot rod content in books and magazines that will probably never see the internet unless a poster on something like the HAMB posts it up. At least for now, as these cool custom car and hot rod books go out of print the prices certainly aren't going down unless you catch a seller sleeping. Hold onto your stuff boys, you can throw it out anytime but once you do it's gone.
I buy every issue of Grease Machines I see at awapmeets, so now I will have to add Kustomland also. At reasonable prices of coarse. As well as many other titles. Even ran across a Grease Machines in hard cover. Gave it to one of my friends who had never seen it.
Wow, just went on ebay to see about getting a copy of Kustomland. Prices start at $99.95 and go up to $215.00!!!
KustomLand was one of my favorite reads, because I love the history of this hobby, and this book brought to light the real history of the hotbed of Kustomizing. I never put that together in my thoughts until I read it. Part of my dilemma was I wasn’t a teenager till 63, and grew up on “right coast”, Reading everything I could out of California. Swap meets , flee markets, thrift stores I check all these places. I've got vintage mags off of Ebay in bulk also. But I get most of mine from a flee market I usually get 20 or more at a time from the same booth for 35 cents apiece. Every time I go back there's another stack, so I grab em. But I have not run across a kustomland or grease machines. Something new to keep an eye out for!!!
