got it home and in the garage.will a 1961 ford 292 bolt to the stock lincoln 3speed with overdrive..i was told a flathead 8 will bolt right up.the v12 needs a total rebuild .so right now i'm kicking around which way to go with it.thanks
I ran a 46 Lincoln coupe with a 337 Ford Truck/Lincoln flathead and it was a neat setup for it's day. (1956) I don't think adding the weight of the Lincoln to a flathead would be satisfactory. I would lean toward a HO 302. Anything bigger would strain that drivetrain.
just unload that old motor and tranny on me....i'll take it off yoru hands anyways...do you have any pictures of it? good luck zach
Do the 12 man! What other engine would you put in it? Rather, what engine NEEDS to be in there? Do the 12!!!
Hell yeah!! V12 rocks! I'll have a same opinion. Absolutely put that V12 to there!! I bought '36 Zephyr for a while ago and all other ideas with it might been changed but that's decided, V12 is gonna be there. One friend, who has a chance to make lasercuts, is making to me intake- and exhaustmanifoldplates (four Strombergs). And other friend who is very skillfull guy in machineryjobs, specially with aluminium, started to plan make aluheads and waterpumps to V12. That kind of a engine is special inaf to be there even with standard parts but I thinked that it's so odd that it's have to be done more odd. Anyone have for sale a Rolls-Royce Merlin's or Allison V-1710's magneto??
Not yet but I promise, here will be pics when something is ready. Those manifold plates are allmost done, and in monday we start to make those heads, friend's have to make a CNC-programs and it might take time. Will return back to this case
DeS,looking forward to seeing the progess on your V12.i wish i could find a set of aluminum finned heads for mine.it would look so kool.right now i'm just cleaning it up.found out yesterday that the steering wheel isnt black but clear red[with a little cleaning].i had an older guy who has a 48 restored contenental stop and went over the car with me .learned a lot since he restored a very poor shape lincoln into a show car.
I parted out a 47 last summer that had a 256 Y bolted to the stock OD; it was a bolt up swap as far as I could see.
i'm off for the summer[first time in35 years]so i'm cleaning and checking out alot of things on it..its got more chrome on the dash than 10 new cars haveon the entire car.i got to pull out the transmission in the next couple weeks.as much as i want the v12 in it i may put the y block in it till the v12 is completelly overhauled and updated.i found speed stuff.....but in the words of a lot of people i talk to "it ain't cheap"
