Technical '53 chevy lower column bearing for a Mustang II Rack

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by Madmath, Jan 27, 2020.

  1. To adapt my '53 chevy column with my Mustang II rack, I need to find a lower bearing with the good diameters.
As I bought the column few days ago, I don't have it to measure OD and ID I need.

I found the part on National Chevy ***oc but unfortunately I can't order online.
I live in Belgium and the website tell me to contact them by email and the only answer I receive is that the shipping could be $200 (for a part at $15 !!!).
So I guess that they just don't want to sell only one part for the international.

Someone knows another website where I can order that part, with the good reference, from here ?

    Thanks a lot,

I used a bearing I bought off of Ebay. It was a "Schatz Ball Bearings" brand, part # WE512. I had to have the steering tube expanded just a bit at a muffler shop to make it work. I paid less than $10 for the bearing shipped.

You might look into a local bearing supply store if you have such a thing, and cross reference.

  5. Thanks, I found it in US for $6 and $30 for shipping. Here in Europe for about $65 shipped so it's less expensive to buy directly in US.
But before order one, I will see if abonecollector can help me :)

The National Chevy one fits the tube without modification, as far as I know. My bearing took a bit of stretch.

I bought a bearing for my 49 from a place that sells bearings... King Bearing or something like that. just gave the inside and outside dimensions and that was it.
