I am planning a 27 T roadster 3 piece full hooded project with a 32 grill. The mill will be a 327 SBC. Anyone out there pull this off before? Will the 3 piece T hood fit, or will I need to go to an A or 32 style longer hood?

I dont have all the pieces for mockup for a couple of weeks yet - just trying to plan her out.

    Any thoughts?

I like the looks of this one!

Rootlieb specializes in hoods. You can send them patterns and they'll return a finished hood with factory beads, louvers and seams.

I understand they do this - anyone have an idea on cost vs a stock hood that they sell?

  5. Brett,

You sell off the MOPAR? Or is this the "next" project.

Frank built this 3 piece hood with a home made brake (2 pieces of angle Iron), a oxygen bottle and his knee, then fine tuned with a couple blocks of wood cut at different radiuses,.. At least that's what he told everybody.

  7. Brett, I built the 3 piece hood for my '26 track roadster pickup out of .050 and .063 aluminum. It was a first for me but they turned out pretty well. I found the thicker material to work a bit hard so I used .050 for the hood. The T hood wouldn't need any bead rolled edges as there aren't any such on the body, so that simplifies the task some. I also made the oieces a little big and trimmed them back afterwards.

Looks like I need to get down there for those rails and ick your brain on how you built that hood!
