Here's the ad, along with a little info the guy wrote me:

1954 Ford Customline Chopped Dropped Shaved Frenched, ect... 302 Small Block, FMX Automatic Trans, 1954 Desoto Front Grill, 1955 Pontiac rear bumper, Front Disk Brakes, 9" Rear End with four link air bag suspension, Completely re-wired electrical, Air Bag Bagged, lays frame and does front, back, side to side ect... This is a Rat Rod Custom not a show car. Needs: side gl***, carpet, headliner, door panels

    > How's the rust situation?
    > ** Around rear wheel openings. I have the pressed piece to repair. Also have the metal skirts too.
    > ** ***le is clean and registered with the 1954 plates
** frame notched, floor raised, exhaust raised so everything clears.
recommend drive 60mph on freeway, or mount front shocks then drive as fast as you want on the freeway. car is reliable no issues there.

I have my own thoughts, but I'lll keep them to myself as I wanna hear what you guys have to say :) Any questions I outta ask him? FWIW, That's all the pics I can get outta him, and the car is about 500 miles away from me(not bad) , ***led in my state(cali). I'm thinking about taking out a loan for it. Also, anybody have an idea what it'd cost for some side gl***? I've heard very different numbers. Here's some pics for ya:

The reason I say yes it this....
If you want a nice 50's custom/hotrod....in the old days the cars were pretty much solid.
Today..we have to restore them first and then customize them.....
11 grand for a car with that potential seems to be a good deal to me....maybe another 3-5 in it over the next few years and your off...
    a nice work in progress

And of course I am just seeing from what your showing us.....more investigation is needed.

I'd say it's worth it. Looks like a very well done custom.

hell ill buy it if you dont!! i like it

  10. I'm not sure it's worth it. It has rust. It isn't finished. Just because it's close, and has the correct ***le(a big plus), doesn't make a 8000 dollar car an 11,000 one. After all, it is a 54 ford. And by the guy's own statement, "This is a rat rod custom", tells me there are hidden issues. Most people view ratrod as unfinished so they feel justified with leaving little things out. And since you're gonna take out a loan, why saddle yourself with something you're making payments on, and repairing and fixing up too? You're buying someone else's half finished dream, just make sure it's yours too.

  11. It comes down to the quality of the work done. Really can't tell anything from the pictures. I have to wonder a bit about a nearly finished custom that still has rust repair to do, but without seeing it who knows. If what has been done, has been done well, great! It'd be a good buy. If you have to re do everything then it's only worth the sum of the parts.

My ex- wife bought that car about a year ago for $15,000.00. Drove it for a season then needed the cash and off'd it I guess to this guy who talked her down big time. As I recall he paid what he's selling it for.

I know it had electrical issues when my ex sold it but she included the wiring harness I think he has since installed.

As far as the motor goes, it runs real good,,,hauls ***!!!

Chop was done by the legendary Joe Limones.....Still needs finish body work.

No side gl*** as I can recall, there is gl*** in place but it's roached....

Airbag system seemed to work well while she owned it.

It rattles like a MOFO with no interior or headliner.

My ex also had it striped by the Legendary SKRATCH at Billetproof last year!!

    Hope that helps guys,

The back window doesnt look like it sits in the car right toward the lower portion. It is in my opinion the BEST of the crop of 15 or so chopped 52-54 Ford mainlines and customlines that have been runnin around the west coast for the past 10 years.

Well she's mine now. She has already started her new life with body mods. Rear wheel wells are next on list. Alot of bugs taking out. Now time to run the **** out of her. Not bad start for $7000.

Thanks man I *wish* I'd bought it. I got talked into putting the money towards a house. Once I get that mortgage though, I'm home free to buy a decent ride

I just found a early pic I think from 2004. It took a second look but it's my car. The grill, hubcaps, rear bumper changed. I think next gold flames head to toe, and suicide doors.[IMG][IMG]

Seems like it's got that much in just the custom work alone. As far as curbside appeal, looks great. But things could change drastically when you get up underneath it.

the guy i sold it to decided he would attempt to repaint the car himself, for some reason he thought it would be cool if it was red with white flames to match his harley and totally destroyed it. saw it for sale on ebay recently with the words "i tried to repaint the car myself, paint looks good from 20ft but new owner should repaint it" what a waste
