What exactly does "Billet" mean? There's a Billetproof meet in Antioch in Sept 2006. I'd like to take my roadster up there; but am not sure they'll let me in even though I think the car (Steel Deuce hiboy w/flathead) is a pretty good fit with the 1940's theme that I followed building it. Problem is I've got a few parts on the car I made myself (on an old hand feed Clausing mill) out of aluminum. I spectated at their event in 2003 and it was a neat scene. But I didn't stay in tune with that side of the hot rodding world. So I can't read them. Email to the organizer on this subject got no answer, and that's OK. I understand how busy they can get organizing an event. Any advice, HAMB people? I don't want to preregister, drive 75 miles and get told to park in the spectator lot by some bureaucrat. Ed Weldon
PM Kirk! on here, its his show..... But generally it means "B*yd rims, pedals, mirrors, valve covers, air cleaners" etc..... If its cool & traditional, it'll be allowed....post some pictures
Just noticed your in Los Gatos, pop down to Big Dogs on a Thursday & we can check out your car for you..... I'm in Campbell
Not yet road ready. Later this summer. Will try scanning an old pic I have. Some of you old timers around here may know the car from the 80's before it was damaged in the 89 earthquake. Ed Weldon
I think it's the crap that comes in "bubble-packs" that they're trying to avoid. If you made it yourself.....no sweat ! I know I respect that kind of effort and ingenuity !
So far everyone is right on the money. Read the criteria on the website. For the most part, if you made it, we like it!
Kirk-- Thanks for the word from Mission Control. I think your community will OK my car. I planned this car back in 1975 with page 42 of the 1949 edition of Veda Orr's Hot Rod Pictorial in front of me......Ed Weldon
I always felt that if you questioned if you or your car belongs or not, probably not. But, sounds like a cool piece. We are gonna need some pics. Oh yeah, That KIRK! guy is ok. Had a blast at B-Proof last month.
