I friend of mine wants to get rid of a 59AB flathead block. He built it for himself a while ago but changed routes and built a stroked french flatty. Since I have a 40 Coupe with a 59 he asked me if I wanted it. He had it magnafluxed, bored .030, alignhoned, decked, new valve seats installed, it has also been slightly ported. The guy how did all the machine work is also my "go to"- guy and I´ve always got top notch quality machine work from him.
I know boring a v8 is around 350-400 Euros here.I guess the hard part is finding a crackfree block. I don´t want to take advantage of him and he said I should make him an offer. I also know, being the guy that he his, he will lowball himself after my offer. So , this is why I´m trying to find out what would be fair and reasonable . My gut is saying 1500ish... what do you think?

Prices in Germany will be nothing like a price in the middle of the US, but I’d say $1500 US dollars is high for a bare block.
