Alright Hamb Fam. Is there any one out here who has a 39 merc? I am looking for any info on what size the stud that holds the taillight ***embly in place should be. The bezel bolts from underneath the fender, but then there’s a stud which holds the tail light socket. I am experiencing a ground problem, which makes me wonder if the one I used isn’t big enough/long enough etc. the second photo shows the square hole at the bottom where the stud goes.
I have looked all over for a parts list or any kind of reference from Mercury, but havent found one yet. Let me know what y’all have done. IMG_4667.JPG IMG_4668.JPG No worries if not, but figured I would check here before experimenting.

Solder a ground wire to the light body, and run it to the frame.
