NO, the belts on a '32 won't match the Model A and the bottom of the 32 side panel curves down, see first 3 pictures. The last two show the same areas on a Model A. When using a '32 shell on a '30-'31 Model A you need to use the Model A hood. You will need a mount for the front of the Model A hinge. Note also that the '32 shell will not go directly onto a Model A radiator, the fill neck is too for forward on the '32 shell and the fill neck will need to be moved. An alternative is to shave the '32 shell and mount the fill cap under the hood. Another alternative (that I am using on my '32) is to remove the radiator neck and install a '32 cap and bezel. With the radiator fill under the hood you can use a pressure cap. Charlie Stephens
Stock Model A hood will fit, why not use it ? Attached a picture of mine while it had T-Bird parts piled on it, couldn't find a better picture.
If stock hood fits, that would be great. Just seems the Model A grill shell and '32 shell have different shapes around the top. Phil
If you don't mind using 'glass, Speedway sells a one piece top that fits the 30-31 cowl and the 32 shell, and the bead is correct. Just sold one at the Nashville Swap Meet.
I was just wondering about this. In the process of buiding a 31 model A with a 32 grill. Great info. Read HAMB build car. It seems like all the information a person needs is right here. A person just needs to be able to find it. Thanks Guys.
I just bought a 32 hood top to use on my 31 A roadster with 32 grill. I knew out the gate it was too long and I would have to work it over a bit but the A hood I picked up used and added louvres to just wouldn't fit no matter what I did. So I cut the 32 down to the right size and will cut off the reveal line and move it up to match the A body line. So far it fits pretty well. Might add louvers once I know it fits properly.
