I ve been gathering parts for this project for 2 years, I have all the major parts. I started with just a Dodge cowl and radiator shroud. Then I got a 26-27 Ford truck bed (original Ford)! I was planning on building a roadster truck, so I have been planning on finding a back half of the cab, or build one. I got some later dodge sedan doors I was gonna build into roadster doors. Well, today I Bought the back-half of a Dodge touring car, this half is ****en SOLID!!! Complete with seat pan and Good sub frame!! I was gonna narrow it and cut off the fenders and fill the fender wells with sheet metal and use it for the back of the cab, then I thought of using it for a Modified.. I brought it home and me and Cooter (Hamb member) mocked it up as a Phateon and now I have a new direction...PHATEON...Hell Yeah!! The pics show it as a 2-door and it looks Good!! Now I will keep the Ford bed for a later Project! I would like to see pics of other Phateons if you got them!! Mine is gonna sit on A rails, suicide front, 56' truck rear, and probally a Hoped-up 327 I got laying around, I know another sbc but **** it was only $200 and it runs like a scalded cat!! I'm gonna use a f-1 steering box and 16" wires up front w/16' steelies in the back!
At this point there has been 126 views and no-one has commented, I want to share my excitement and I'm beeing let down....I know WAWAWAWAAAA!
Thats good stuff!!!....but I think Ill keep it, or maybe **** somebody on the price like all the other profiters!!!
Ok, now you got my intertest.......what the hell is a "phateon". I hope your not talking about a phaeton, which is a 4 door roadster not a pickup truck. But it's your car so I guess you can call it anything you want.
There were two door Phaetons too. It's to do with being open topped and the number of seats. Roadster is to coupe as Phaeton is to sedan. Roadster = open two seater. Phaeton or "touring car" = open four seater.
You guys are great!!! I have a ****y camera so the pics are kinda blurry but hey at least I figured out how to post them!! Phaeton is the correct spelling, and to think I'm in college....Scary huh!?! Thanks for all the tub pics ...total inspiration!!! I will keep everyone updated on the build!!
If you go to the string for pics of this year's Back To The 50's, on one of the pages there are pictures of a 2 door phaeton I built out of a '27 Chrysler 4 door. It is a 2 door now with 2 movie theater seats,, no back seat riders! It's very low and very low cost. Made the 550 mile round trip to Goodguys in Des Moines last weekend with no problems. I haven't a clue on how to post pics that's why I can only give you the string it is on. If you are considering "down & dirty" then you might be interested in the one I built. Good luck & have fun building.
