Maybe this is a stupid question, but my 1960 Ford F-100 manual seems to list two different torque specs for the rear axle shafts. Which one is it, 80-100 or 30-35?

80 to 100 pound feet sounds right to me, but I don't recall the bolts being hard to remove. This is on a Dana 44 with the axles that have have a small plate that holds the bearing in place. Any help is appreciated. F100 TORQUE SPEC.JPG

First one is for the bolts holding the axles to the housing (30-35). The second is for the wheel lugs.

  3. Yup right on the money ^^^^^^^

If I recall those bolts that hold the retainer plate on the 3/4 ton Ford are only 5/16" and if you hit one with 80+ Ft Lbs it will let you know real quick that it will not tolerate the pressure. ;)

3/4 ton usually has a full floater axle , and only has backing plate retained by the 4 bolts . The diameter of the bolts , will define the torque value of the bolts you are needing to torque .
