Having been in and out for 10 years I should do this since I find myself here more since retirement and do enjoy some of the older cars. I was introduced to cars by my uncle from San Diego around 12 yo and found myself at Paradise Mesa drag strip one evening in his 57 Dodge Lancer. We had no car in our family in LA (single mom) so this was a BIG deal. Cars, noise, speed, danger & junk food!! whats not to like about this? He had owned and raced a Kurtis midget with a partner in 1947-48 so my lifetime affliction with gas & oil most likely comes from him. I ***embled and raced my first compe***ion car for Modified production in 1964. I had friends that had Junior Stockers but quickly realized I was not smart enough to compete there and would just start where my equipment fit. At that time in LA you could leave Friday after work and flat tow less than 50 miles to drag race at 3 or 4 different tracks and be home each night. After 1-1/2 years of tuning and driving I was able go rounds and pay for my racing. I feel fortunate I was able to do it where & when I did as those times will never return. I have made lifelong friendships as well at "that dirty old track".
Welcome from Indiana! So what are you working on now? Any hamb friendly projects? Regards, Randy Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Starting when I did at the end of the "the Traditional" HAMB period not a lot of my racing fits properly but my profile does add some. I have posted lately some JR stock and MP things that interest me and fit the profile which I believe you can search from my screen name. DC
