I am building a 29 ford rat rod. Just starting the build. I started with the stock 29 wishbone radius rods, split them and now need a good way to mount them to a 52 ford truck axle.(two leafspring perches) I am using the stock leaf spring off the 29 in the front. The shackles from the spring are going to bolt through the radius rod. If I weld brackets on to the axle for the radius rods, the brackets will line up in the middle of the four inch drop and interfer with the steering. Any ideas? Sorry for the confusion I will try to post pics Thanks ****erboy
Doesn't bother me at all. but that's a blister on the ******** to some on here....Post some pics if you can
Your best bet is ditch the '52 axle cause it's ugly as sin and just use the stock model A axle with '37-'48 spindles. The wishbones fit that axle already so no reason to do any fabbing. You can still mount the spring thru the wishbone that way for the suicide style you're looking for and then you have lots of options for steering as well. Remember, there's a reason one path is traveled more often. Good luck on the build.
I agree with BenD sell the truck axel to someone building a truck use superbell i beam 4" drop and drop steering arms [safer for you and anyone on the road with you] just my thoughts on it
I agree with the last two posts, BUT keep the 52 F-1 brakes, you can use them on the early ford spindles, and they are really good brakes.
