Generic, cast by an unknown company, and marketed by many. Google “tall, no name, cast aluminum SBC valve cover”, I bet you will get a lot of hits.
I believe I have these same ones on my ‘69 Camaro. I’ll have to hunt up my invoice to see where I purchased them. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Though I don't know if they all are SSI branded, I've seen plenty of that particular style on the e place, both short and tall versions.
Hand carved out of solid aluminum billet....just carv away everything that doesn't look like a valve cover - to paraphrase Little John ****era.
Yeah, they do look like the summit covers. Just wondering about the SSI and what the circles were. Similar to certain engine date codes.
Just a generic modern ugly valve cover, maybe you could dress them up with stick on flames or paint them black and stick a 283 emblem on them.
Despite some of the comments, they are a nice solid cast aluminium cover with the built in gasket reinforcement at the hold down bolts. Plenty rigid and should not leak. If they are only about 3.5" deep, they will not clear a stud girdle unless you use a spacer. And like others have said, many places over the years have sold covers that look to have come from the same mold. Give them a gl*** bead blast and some Gibbs and they are good to go. ***uming that the SSI marking is in fact Super Stock Industries, that was one of the house brands sold by PAW when they were around.
I'm guessing the 01, 02, and 03 is the year range of the casting. There are 12 openings in the circles, perhaps to indicate the month?
It was meant in jest......... like jest kidding. With about a bazillion small block Chevy engines powering hot rods, it's far more uncommon not to be a small block..
me thinks those that post negatively do not own a pair.nice looking better than some out there less is more(meaning plain)
They look like the Summit brand covers I run on my SBC. Mine are ball milled but you could get them smooth too.
