What is everyone doing to run wires into doors...speakers, power windows and/or door locks...
Have to remove door to drill for looms...and door is at such an angle I don't know if looms will work or not. Contact switches? through hinge?

This is what the factory did.

Those engineers and designers in the 1950s weren't dumb - sometimes the OEM way can be the simplest, most-efficient and sane. In other words, don't overthink something as simple as getting power to the doors - unless you really like creating something else to maintain, adjust and could potentially be a problem down the road.

Sorry, my brain isn't working this morning. I thought I could drag n drop a pic from my album to here, but apparently not, so you'll have to scroll thru a dozen pic to get one of the contact switches I used. pic #16 jamb side, #35 door side
I only ran wires for the power windows, but multiple power contacts are available, or you could pirate switches from a van with sliding doors that may have had pwr locks, windows, speakers, etc. Those van switches are usually big and ugly.
I've had no issues in 4 years of driving. Downside is you have to be in the car with the door closed to put the windows up or down.

Thanks all. The contact switches are much better looking. Ill pull the doors to cut and ***emble and go with that. I'll be going with only door locks - and put them thru a remote box so I can push a ****on - and the speakers. Going with t-bird door handles outside. Was looking at some street rod switches....but those siding van door switches are inexpensive!!

They are inexpensive, and also easy to find a variety at the salvage yards, however, they are bulky and don't look near as good at the hot rod variety. Note I installed mine on a small aluminum plate the I fit into the recessed opening in the jamb. For mounting, I drilled and tapped a hole in the center of a 3" long piece of alum bar stock and just p***ed it thru the oblong hole with the screw just started.

I avoided contact switches because you must have the doors closed for anything to work. I have done this on my 53F100 and now on my 55 conv. Simple, but I am a simple guy. I use two layers of shrink tubing. 55 door wires.jpg
