I went to the Southern Outlaw G***er event in Atmore Alabama this weekend and finally got to put the car on the track to see what she could do. I'm pretty pleased with the results for street tires and 3.23 street gear. Had the best et of 8.68 at 83 mph in 1/8 mile which would convert to a low 13 second quarter mile p***. A little more time with the EFI learning and some better tires I could pick up a couple more tenths, but it probably won't see the track again. I just wanted to get a baseline.. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10212141503012667
Really cool, would u mind sharing your wheel and tire set up, size, width, backspace , thanks for sharing with us!
Ford 8.8 Rear end cut and centered to 54 Ford factory width of 57 1/4. This is what I have now and what's in the pics. Rear wheels are American Racing VN5158165 - Polished Torq-Thrust II One-Piece Wheels. 18 in. x 10.0 in. 5 x 4.50 in. Bolt Circle, backspace is 5.74 plus 6mm (.23) Tires are Nitto 211330 Very tight fit, but if you have factory rear end width they should fit fine. A little trim on the lip maybe, but mine fit good. I definitely can't fit any more tire. I also have 1-inch drop blocks on my car. If you dont want to take a chance on something so close; although, mine don't rub) This is what I had previously. REAR 17 x 8 American Racing Hot Rod VN5157866 Torq Thrust II Polished Wheel (17x8"/5x114.3mm) 4.81 +8 mm offset FRONT RIMS- American Racing Hot Rod Torq Thrust II VN515 Polished Wheel (16x7"/5x114.3mm) 4 inch wheel backspace. FRONT TIRES are P255/55ZR16 I attached a pic to show the difference of the tire sizes I've had on the rear. It's huge. My car would destroy the 17 inch tires, but I have much better control with the larger Nitto's. Plus it fills up the wheel well very nice. PLEASE NOTE: You will have to drop the shocks and let the rear hang down to fit either of these setups under your car. For those of you that want to say what happens if you have a flat. Well, that's why I have AAA. I will have it towed not matter what and considering I haven't had a flat in 30 years, and over 20 cars, I feel fine with my choice. (I never have carried a spare)
Oh man! great write up and info , I'm on the home stretch of my 54 customline restoration and will need wheels n tires soon, love your set up. Will probably do similar, thank you
Very Very Cool!!! I have seen this car in person and the pics do not do it justice. This car is absolutely gorgeous.
