VIN location? 1927 Chevy....

Hey, Where is the VIN located on a 27' Chevy truck?

There should be a metal tag on the firewall on the pass side.... I don't think they started stamping the numbers on the frame yet in '27. If the tag is not there, you are out of luck... I think...

 

I believe there is also a good chance the seat frame has a number.....i know i asked gm in canada about my 29 (which i trashed seat from...dumbie) and they said fire wall and seat frame.....now this was a while ago, so i could be confused....but almost sure .....

Tag on the drivers side of firewall

 

on some GM's the VIN was stamped in a metal strip and riveted on the side of the frame.

 

I've seen aluminum tags on GM bodies from the early '30s on the firewall, curbside, that were made in the Oshawa, Ontario plant.

Anyone ever hear of the vin locationg also being on the differential? I have a Chevy chassis which seems to be a 1928 or 29 and the only numbers on this thing are on the differential, one is embossed and the other is stamped (7 digits). Could this be the vin no.? Anyone know?

 

On the wood on the passenger side under your feet?

28 chevy has it, anyone have a picture of the vin tag under the floor mat pass side? I've got the title and the plate is long gone from the salt of the midwest winters..thanks

 

Yeah......... and the wood rots and the tag falls off, and you don't have a vin #.
