So now I'm about ready for re-assembly. Got my gasket kit in today. Little worried of how it is turning over by hand. She gets hung up or a little stuck in spots. The same spots, like when 3/4 are at the bottom. I have used scotch brite and cleaned out the dirt and rust build up. When I first triedrolling it by hand it was a bitch. After cleaning and 3M, it's a shit ton easier, but it still gets hung up at spots. How hard should it be to roll the crank without the head on? What could be the reason for the hang up? Bad bearing? I pulled them...they all looked good. Maybe I screwed up missed something. Gonna give another good once over cleaning tomorrow. Any opinions?
Going to revive a dead thread here. Almost 5 years since I updated this thread. Obviously, a lot has changed since then. New job, new house, new GF, new dog, new project('36 for 4 door). Life got in the way and long story short, in 2018 I moved back home to Ohio from central Virginia where I lived for almost 13 years. Before I moved, I managed to get the engine painted, reassembled, fired up and broken in. Then she sat....sat and waited for me. While it feels great to be back home, the move, house search (and 4 month DIY remodel) and job transition put me on about a 3 year break up with Black Betty. She sat at my Grandfathers shop/driveway for nearly 2 years getting rained and snowed on while I got everything sorted out. Moved her out of the muck and to my new place and garage about 4 months ago. The virus has given me more than enough time to get back to work. So with all the time on my hands, its back to work on Black Betty. Here are some pics from Jan 2017 to October 2019.
Cool, I bet there will be a lot of projects being worked on during this time, it's a good thing to keep busy. Good luck from a native Southeast Ohioan.
