So I started the process of stamping all of the Alliance tags tonight. You know how all of those old tags look a little better than hand stamped, but not quite machine stamped? I totally get it now... These machines aren't the most accurate (I'm using the same one used by the SCTA in the late 50s/early 60s) and it is HARD work man.

Anyway, I am considering left justifying all of the names now as it might look better than "just" off center...

    Back to stamping...

Jesus, Ryan! Yer hand will be sooo tired from doing all those. Yer like a ROCK STAR signing autographs for like 5 hours straight. Still need to get mine ($$$$) in the mail to ya so ya can stamp one for me. I am honored to be a part of the HAMB family. Thanx to you and all the other moderators on here for making that possible. KNUX!

If I lived near by, I'd love to help out and stamp some. Can't wait to get mine.

    Ryan,
You MAY wind up sorry that you took on this project. By the time you factor in your time & effort, you probably could have found a much easier way to fund the HAMB!!!!
My only experience with "stamping" was the old amu*****t machines that you put a quarter into and selected one letter at a time and it printed out on a small aluminum key fob from your location. There was one in the train station in ***berland, MD when we would visit my Grandmother. I thought they were awesome.

I'd prefer "just off center", matches my interests.

Since you're calling them Timing Tags, would've been cool for a spot to place a time if you entered the Day of the Drags or the HAMB drags. I mean, what's a Timing Tag without a time and those two spots would be cool to provide a time. Just a thought. They are neat looking though, more like I.D. tags, like I wore in the Navy, Dog tags :)

You guys are thanking me? Don't forget man - you sent me $50! These tags are just the first part of me payin' ya'll back!

The perfectionist in me is killing me, but this old stamping machine isn't going to allow me the absolute precision that I want. It wasn't until I started looking at some of the vintage tags that I realized the imperfection actually adds some character... I think these things are pretty cool.

I really wish I lived closer to you. I would give you as much time as I could to help. It looks to me like you are really earning every dime that is coming your way. I can't wait for school to start so I can be rid of the kids and do some of the stuff I really want to do like go to town and get a money order. I don't do checks or paypal which is the pitts, right now. Gumpa

If it will help any, you can shorten mine to just Tom. That'll save you a couple of letters.:D

I had visions of you holding the plaque with your elbow while smacking one of those 1/4" letter stamps with a ballpeen. I was figuring on getting mine around Christmas. I think you under bid the job.

There is a very good chance that these plaques will still be around long after computers have been replaced.

I'd much rather have a hand job...?? er...non-computer generated perfect tag.:D

That's got to be a big task. Don't let it eat at you. It'll get done in due time. Tell everyone..."asking when will they be ready?"... automatically relocates your plaque to the bottom of the pile."

Don't burn yourself out over it. 90% of us will gladly wait our turn. the other 10% deserve to be on the bottom of the pile.

I'd settle for RASHY as well.

That will save you six letters and navigating a space.
