I'd just be happy to meet anyone here lol. But if that means I gotta do what I gotta do, then so be it. My flywheel and missing floor pan can this morning, so I'll be fitting it and getting that prepped today.

  6. Welcome to the HAMB Sarah. So I just found your thread. A great story and family project. It's COOL that you have the old car disease. I have two daughters. My youngest has it, and is car crazy too. Keep us posted on your project. Maybe we could all do a meet and greet at the Hershey swap meet? Keep up the good work, and Stay Safe. :) Ron.......

I am out of work too.. and I have a feeling it will be a LONG time before I get back to work seeing I work with schools. That just means more time working on the ranchero [emoji16]

Thanks Ron. To give you some history on me, I've been working on cars since I was 3. My dad had a t bucket that only I could fit under the dash. So my job was to help Dad with wiring the car. I was out with him just about any time he had work to do on his car. Needless to say I was deviated when he sold it. Then he bought his 39. We fixed up a motor for it and that was cool. I ended up going to a technical high school. I had rotations; electoral mechanical class, woodworking class, and auto body/collision repair. Met my teacher who referred to himself as a lone wolf in the car world (he is now our rod run chairman)! I moved on from high school and went to college for classic car restoration at Ohio technical college. At the time they didn't have custom car shop classes. I also took custom paint and graphics. I was a car painter for about 10 years until I realized we needed health insurance badly and switched to becoming a bus driver. Which is cool, I still do it for myself, I never worked well with others anyway lol

Anyway, girls can definitely make it in this trade. I hope she sticks with it and does it for life. I can never NOT be into my passion of cars. It's in your blood, it stays.

Love your project , and your passion for old cars. Very refreshing to see a younger person into this. And I hope you never lose the gratification and enjoyment that can be had from this car crazy life. You have found the best place to be by joining the HAMB.:);)

well today is Monday and tomorrow is my birthday. I ordered a new motor mounts, in the process of looking at a rear bumper, my missing floor pan is now here, and for my birthday I got a carb rebuild kit, and a flex plate. Its been quite cold here and unfortunately the heat in my garage doesn't work, so I've just been throwing money at her like she's on the dance floor.... quarantine had made it very easy to not spend on the unnecessary stuff I usually spend on, like going out to eat. Plus it's helping me stay focused on my car and the car is helping making me feel like things are still normal. Its like therapy but I actually get something out of it lol

Right you are, Sarah...about the Quarantine! I think this might contain a positive here, as my cool stuff was halted for a time. (new O/T car in my family, needed some of my O/T expertise. Took more time with 'systems' than anticipated)
Then came the virus! Wife relegated me to the shop, Ahhh, my '27 tub.
    Not forgotten, just...side-stepped.
Nice metalwork you're doing on those floors, BTW...I have a '65 Falcon Ranchero here now, my bud loaned it to me a year ago, so I had transportation for parts, etc. while my '55 F100 was 'down' for front axle replacement, engine mounts to weld in, and some other things...
Hate to give that little Ranchero back...they 'grow on you'! 302/ C4, 3.90 gear. Quick!
...and a Happy Birthday to you, from California!

A very Happy Birthday to you Sarah. The time you are putting in on your project is time well spent. I agree, it is great therapy. I have been pending time in my shop, no news on, and for a time feel better.

That's cool, that's the exact motor and trans set up I have lined up for mine. I'm leaving it carbureted just to get it going. I may keep it that way, we'll see. Not many carbureted cars out there anymore.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. Honestly, kind of wish it was better.. especially now we have a stay at home order.. I just really want to grab my motor, but that's going to be a process all by itself.

Hey guys, sorry for not posting. Haven't really been working on the car too much this week, besides ordering parts. I DID HOWEVER rearrange and clean out the garage. Again. Made my toolbox more accessible and easier to manage as well as get a lot of junk out of the way. Didn't want you guys to think I forgot about you all, because I definitely did not. This virus is really putting a kill Joy on everything tho. Now I'm not even allowed to leave my house unless I have a valid reason... So I have to order parts online, which I hate... So anyway, just a quick pop in to say hello to everyone and hoping everyone stays safe. I'm headed to the garage now so if I get anything done I'll be sure to post it later! [emoji16]

Cool car young lady :D Also cool that you're in there getting your hands dirty! Welcome to the party. You should ask one of the moderators to move this to the main board for more exposure! Keep up the good work and stay healthy :D;)

This finally came in the mail today! Since it's been cold outside and we're expecting rain, this shall be a great mini project. Finding this thing was a nightmare, but luckily I got it.
And it's all because of this gasket right here that looks wrong anyway. On well, found some gasket material in the garage... Ugh, oh well. Trans mount and upper engine mounts came yesterday. So I'm sure the postal office is fed up with me now [emoji16]

Definitely glad for warmer weather coming, hopefully it's soon so I can spend more time outside. 1585329704822.jpeg IMG_20200327_132348373~2.jpeg

Just enjoying some nice weather activities like setting up a pick nick bench I had no idea we had for the last two and a half years, and casually cleaning a carb in the sun [emoji274], loving this for sure.

  25. Hi Sarah, I think you have what could be a COOL new thread. You could just start a thread on the main board. Have a good****le. Like ,{ Girls can build Hot Rods too } I'm sure you can come up with a even better****le. But I think it would make a great thread. I think it's interesting following along with you on your project. It doesn't have to be a build thread to be interesting. Just post, and people will give you their ideas of what they think. Some good, and some not so much. lol But it'd be Fun never the less. Just say'en. Good luck with you cool little ranchero. Thanks Ron.........

  26. Sarah, you are the epitome of cool. As a professional diesel technician, I’m used to most ladies looking down their noses at me, but here you are, and you’re one of us! Your project is very cool and you have the skills that I don’t. I’m following along and can’t wait to see more of what you are accomplishing. Also, I spent the first six years of my career as a school bus mechanic. It’s too bad that we are separated by half of a country because I would enjoy hanging out and learning your metal working
    skills.

Alright guys, seems like you would enjoy this as a thread instead.. so I'll make it and try to copy everything over there. I'm not sure if that would be easier for all of you, and definitely not what I thought any of this would turn out to be! Let's see where this new adventure goes! When I have more info for you I'll be back and post it on here and we can all switch over. I've never done this before so be patient with me lol

........Before you go to all that trouble, send a PM to one of the moderators (maybe Moriarity) and ask him to move it.

  29. Yeah what Don said, But I didn't mean you had to move this thread. More like keep this as your intro thread. And just start a new one. Either way just keep it easy peasy, and do what works best for you. I don't have enough pull on here, to have the mods change stuff fur me:rolleyes: lol. I do think you'ld have a cool thread.:) Ron......

Anyone know who to message to switch it over? I'm still very new at this and I'm not even sure how to go about it. I have no idea who here is a moderator or anyone in "control" of this page, (I mean that in quotations in the most respectful way possible, they run a great website here.)
