Leaves me out. My employer considers me essential so I'm still working. I was actually hoping for a 2 week furlough. I have a '61 F100 project I'm in the middle of and my son is out of school. He loves to help.

I'm still working, still essential since I work in defense. BUT... in 30 days I will be retired. Going to look at a '62 Thunderbird locally once the dust settles a bit.

I’m still “essential” too, but could use some time at home to work on a project I am behind on... OT for this group, but HAMB friendly. :D

Oh, and my wife would love to have a 62 t-bird! I should have held out for one of those instead of the Corvair I bought her recently...

I retired 5 years ago today - 31 March 2015 after nearly 40 years off & on since 1971 with the military (Air Force active, Army civilian) and am glad I'm no longer consider "essential". Nowadays I have to look at the calendar to know what day of the week it is. :D That 8N Ford tractor sitting in the barn awaiting restoration beckons.

There is a rumor at work that we are going to 4 ten-hour days, 4 on, 3 off. So we'd be working partial or total weekends. I will give my 2-weeks notice at that point.

projects............last year I closed off the back overhead door in my garage, but never got the drywall finished. So, I finally got that done, taped and painted, and hung some overhead shelving. I'm working on an air cooling system for my compressor that is attached to the underside of that shelving, but still have to finish up the remainder of the plumbing for filters, valves, etc.
Another project........we recently inherited some handguns and a 12 ga Stevens Pump action shotgun. Need to find out how to use the shotgun before I mess with it. It's got a shell in the chamber......imho that is not good, and I don't even know how to eject / remove it.

A few nights ago someone got into my Outback. Nothing taken, no damage. The only reason I knew they were in there was they left the glove boxes open and the door ajar. My fault....the 2 lights at the end of the house had burnt out bulbs, and I had forgotten to lock the car when I unloaded it that night. The next day I ordered an 8 camera 4K night vision setup to replace the old system that was too fuzzy to make out anything, so we never used it. The new system is suppose to be able to zoom in a license plate at 100 ft. We'll see...still waiting for it to get here. I need to find out how to extend the cables to the camera. The front of our house is somewhere around 108' long, and the cables that are supplied are only 60'.
And, I'm refinishing the 4 light fixtures that are on the front of the house. When the weather gets good enough I'll get back to refinishing the windows/trim on the front of the house.

Texas57, depending on the model, there should either be a rectangular ****on at the rear of the trigger guard that you push up to release the slide, or a round ****on on the side of the receiver that press in. If your not sure, I would prefer to safely discharge the gun before handling it very much.

Sell me the Stevens... I had some old Remington 12-gauge shells that were hard to cycle through my Mossberg, it was a fight to get it safely unloaded. Had to try like 10x to get the last 2 out.

Gave my 2 weeks notice, I am out on the 17th, got my wife's SS coming and everything else covered. Literally, going to lay low for a while.

Hope all the 52-59 guys, and all HAMBers stay safe and healthy out there!

+Sooo many projects going, and many interuptions to take care of the honey-do lists. This is the garage project that's on hold. This back wall is where the back overhead door was that I closed off last year. I didn't want any shelf supports under the shelves, so I used Super-strut from Lowe's. Worked out well. I had some flex lines made up to make my life easier with the hookups to the compressor and all the end stuff. This project is on hold while I get the new camera system installed......gonna be a ton of work running the wires. IMG_2232.JPG

I'm working from home, so I have a bit of more time to spare. But since the girls are outta school we spend most of the time trying to get them not to tear down the house. I bought a OT van to convert for weekend camping so I do spend some time in there..
    These are strange days hum?..

Things are not too bad, health wise, if one look at the stats.. elders are the most concern as everywhere, theyr vulnerable and i think not very concerned nor quite aware. I still have my granny and man... shes stuborn! Not easy, but i do my best to provide.
Economical consequenses, on the other hand, will be a *****. My country relies a lot (too much) on tourism, sun and beaches, so you can imagine. Everything, or mostly everything not essencial is closed now..
But yeah, were doing fine give or take.
Stay safe and do your best.
    And thanks for asking.

Doing the best I can with social distancing. Took the '57 out for a 180 mile drive last week. This area is about 80 miles south of Amarillo in the Palo Duro Canyon area. Texas highways 70 and 256 out of Clarendon going west. I'm really missing my New Mexico, Colorado and Oklahoma road trips. They've all asked tourists and 2nd home owners to stay away, so I don't think it'd be too cool riding around there with Texas plates, even if I social distance. IMG_2240.JPG

Increasing security around the house. We've got a full alarm system we had put in when we bought the house 3 years ago, but with a lot of local car break-ins lately in the neighborhood, and the potential for our current catastrophie getting worse, we decided we needed a modern camera system to replace our old useless one. I decided on a Defender brand 4 k 8 camera setup after reading reviews. I set up everything on our kitchen table and everything worked great right out of the box. That's what I've been working on for the past 3 or 4 days. I got 4 cameras installed on the front of the house. Clarity is great daytime even though the only monitor I could find (there's a shortage right now because of everybody setting up to work from home), is a cheapo 2080, so the image on the monitor is not up to par with the level of the camera output, but it's still impressive imho. Nightime image I need to work on a bit.......interference with the way I have them aimed including light fixtures causing problem with the camera's auto. adjusting to light levels., etc.
Jeff..........I hope my posts are what you had in mind when you ***led the thread.

Sure seems to be a lot of confusion "out there". I've noticed on the event cancellation thread they have going on the main board, some events are moved back to June (???) but some July events have been cancelled. If we actually do get to do some car shows in the fall, it seems like every town/area every weekend is going to have them crammed together. I guess having to decide between 4 or 5 area car shows is a whole lot better than having none, the downside of that is not going to be good for individual events with so much compe***ion.
Some areas where stay at home orders are in effect mean actually stay at home except for essentials. Other areas construe it to mean don't go to work and make sure you social distance, but okay to go for walks and drives.

Our OK govenor has mandated that everyone over 65 must stay inside. I am very glad that he did not include those of us WAY over 65. I have gotten a lot of yard projects done and repaired my wife's treadmill. This week is going to be back to winter temps so I will be in the shop for a few days. When the upholestry guys installed the new top they discovered that my new pump [Chinese?] had a defect so I bought another one, supposedly American manufactured. So that means switch em out and fill and bleedthe sytem once again. The following week is supposed to be warm again so I plan on some miles on the Sunliner. Hopefully the gov wont have the parol out looking for us. Plenty of garage projects in my shop so that is a life saver. Rich I am wondering how shy folks will be of motel rooms for awhile.

I had the same thoughts, Joe, but I can handle sleeping in my car.....I actually like it. The high back seats go all the way down, pillow and blanket, kick the tilt wheel up, and hope for a light rain......perfect! And I don't have to worry about my car in a hotel parking lot. My worry is availability public rest rooms. Places like McDonalds, etc., are closed. A gas station I was at had a sign that said restrooms closed. I did go into the I40 rest area in town this week just to see if was open, and it was, just not the main lobby. I asked a guy there if he had been traveling the interstates, and if the highway rest areas were open. He said he only stopped at one other, but it was open. Just make sure you have disinfectant wipes to use before you sit down.
I guess I could buy a porta potty, but finding a place to use it may be difficult, particularly if you're in a hurry to sit down.

As far as motel rooms, I read nationwide, they are at 20% normal occupancy. With that in mind, and hearing that the virus can only live on "hard surfaces" (??) for a few days, I guess it would help to ask for a room that hasn't been occupied for a while. I wonder about stores and resteraunts that have had nobody in them for at least a few days.......does everything still have to be disinfected? Any body heard the latest info on how long the viruses can live outside a warm body?

I just think that people may be hesitant to attend events that require them to stay in motels for awhile. I am sure they will advertise having been disinfected. This **** is going to change our lives for a good while. I bet that little local events will grow after this. One thing for sure, us guys will be willing to take chances before our wives will. I am just ready for a good Mexican meal with a cold beer.

Regarding hotel rooms, I was traveling in early March and s****ed my shin on the table leg in the motel room. I ended up getting MRSA which is an antibiotic resistant staph infection. I had two IV antibiotics in the hospital, and am now beginning my third week of oral antibiotics. Can't prove that I got the infection in the room, but that's where I got the s****e. So once we can travel again I plan to wipe down my hotel room in the future.
