I posted "rare parts question" last night to get some info on some parts I have. I got some replies, posted some pics, then today I went to check on it and everything is gone. Just wondering why? Please get back to me when you get a chance.
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

because it looked like you were trying to sell parts on the main board. you offered discounted prices to people that helped with giving values to parts. We do not allow selling on the main board. All ads need to be in the classifieds with pricing per the rules. If you are looking for value help, Ebay has tons of historic information on completed sold auctions for almost anything imaginable

My intentions were to hopefully find out what some of the parts I have are worth so that I could post them in the classifieds for a realistic price. I was offering a discounted price to anyone that could help me, kind of like "a favor for a favor". I sell on eBay all the time and I cannot find that particular boost gauge anywhere so I started exploring other options and that's how I found the H.a.m.b. I apologize to anyone that I may have upset with this, not my intentions.
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

I deleted your other post too after it was reported by several members. You can't post parts on the main board and say send me a pm if you are interested in buying them. do not start another thread like that please....if you don't know what it is worth post it on ebay at no reserve and it will sell for what it is worth. Yes it is rare.....

    decotrain,

I am not sure what parts you are trying to sell, but another place to look for pricing information is right here in the HAMB classifieds. The classifieds here act as a huge database. Search here for the same parts you have - if there has been something posted here in the past you may be able to get some guidance on what to ask for your parts.

I apologize, and with all due respect, i don't understand the way some people are on this forum. Why is it some of you have to act like its some big secret? I am asking people on a well respected vintage auto and parts forum for some information on some parts i have so i can make them available to the people in your classifieds and i feel like i just asked everyone for their ssn or something. You said yourself "yes it is rare" if you know something about it why cant you just tell me what you know about it? I like this forum, and i have a lot of parts i would like to make available to the people on it, i just don't understand why some of you seem so "stand offish"? I understand the world is a constantly changing place but i was brought up with the idea that "you help the ones you can, and if you cant then try to point them in the right direction." I am asking for information, not donations. I know i am new to the forum and have not earned the trust of the people on here but i feel that i could be a good resource for some if i were given the chance. I am not some craigslist scammer that everyone has grown to hate, i'm just another Joe Blo trying to make it in this world.

what an item is worth to one person may not be the same for another.

the question is, what do you want for it? put a price on it and list it. it's that simple. if it doesn't sell, drop your price.

it doesn't cost you a cent to list it here.

if it sells, you done good. you got what you wanted for it and you helped a fellow hamber out.

So what about the recently back from the dead thread "Rockford Stash"?
It started out as a "look what I've found" thread. By post #20 the owner of the vehicles starts morphing the thread into a for sale ad and by post #27 the owner of the cars is listing prices.
Recently the owner of the cars resurrected this old thread, guess he's still got some to sell.
I believe, if not deleted, it should be locked. What do you think?

I think if you found a thread like that, you should hit the report button so a moderator can have a look at it and delete or close it if that's what has to happen. You've gotta realize, we're like half a dozen guys just reading the HAMB with the ability to edit. It's not like we have super powers to bring these threads out of the woodwork. And we're not at a job combing through every sub forum looking for offenders. Just hot rod guys with a delete button. So, like I said, if you see something, say (report button) something.

I did report it. Later I posted on it to "move this ad to the for sale section" after seeing it was still up. I wouldn't have brought it up here if the op of this thread hadn't been scolded for mistakenly trying to sell outside the classifieds. It's in post 27 of the thread I questioned that the owner of the vehicles states prices. That's where it becomes a for sale ad to me. Of course the thread had died about a decade ago, until the owner of the vehicles bumps the dead thread recently still looking for buyers.

Figured if the rules apply to one they apply to all. But, since loosing my job to the virus there's more for me to worry about than some guy selling rust buckets.
