@Stogy thanks for the info. My column is a 1932 and the pin is a lot smaller so it sounds like it may be a bit trickier. I can hear the pins moving when I insert the uncut key and the cylinder rocks back and forth just a bit like it would rotate with the right key. @Beanscoot this might be the answer
You don't need security clearances to buy those?......wow is nothing sacred anymore...and then go to YouTube for training... Joking aside I enjoy locks and keys...
Yeah, I wonder if customs would confiscate a lock pick set. They're cheap enough to risk it though. But I don't think low lifes are going to be picking even simple locks, they use cruder methods.
Yesterday I stumbled upon this. New old stock 32 to 34 barrel with keys. Now I can drill the retaining pin out to remove the barrel with a bit less stress.
@Wardog did you try that new key in the lock on your column...stranger things have happened...insert...work in and out in and wiggle it up and down turning gently, release and try again...nice find...
@Stogy they are the sellers photos. I still have to wait for it to turn up. When it does that will be the first thing I try. If id doesn’t work then I’ll move on to removing the barrel the way it was done in the threads you posted links to.
Today, when they steal a car they use a rollback, with a guy standing there looking pithed pretending to be the owner... they load it and drive off with it... ouch !
Probably a distraction from what I should of been working on but a job done none the less. I have been obsessing over air cleaners for months. I got so confused over what I wanted and what would suit I decided to make my own. I’m pretty happy with the results.
Hey you are doing an outstanding job but, you have to wear a better mask when painting. The dust mask doesn't cut it. I have a 45 year old business card that I keep as a book marker from my old neighbor who painted cars for a living. He didn't wear a mask and never made it to 50 years old.
Hey mate, Had a great time going through your thread. Loving the trad build. You've got a really nice balance of detail going on! Going to stay watching your progress. Cheers Josh
Last week I lifted the rear of the mufflers 1” and welded everything out. I had a weekend away with the family visiting old friends. Today I finished polishing and installed everything. I ended up shortening the tailpipe sections 1” for clearance near the park brake cable. I’m a lot happier with how the mufflers sit now.
Today I mounted a mechanical brake light switch directly to the pedal box that actuates off the pedal. For those that were concerned or advised me. I now have a decent respirator for painting.
Might as well keep that mask Handy for going out as paint seems not the only airborne carcinogen these days... Chassis looking seriously wonderful @Wardog...keep out of harms way...
Fantastic build! Really great build thread, the H.A.M.B. at its best! Chassis is perfect, looking forward to the rest of the adventure.
Thanks for the reply’s guys. Josh the switch mount didn’t have to be anything more than what it is, it also doubles as a stopper until the floors are installed. Kev thanks for the compliment. I’ve read many of your threads over the years.
