Allright, I wanted to reintro the Ranger. It is a '91, a bit young for this forum I know. But, I'm on a budget as I stated before. I have several sketches and ideas for this thing of what it might become. And it is the first rodding project that I have ever tackled without my dad and grandpa. Beyond that it gives me something cheap to work on with my 4 boys. I want to change a lot, but in stages. My goal once again is to do what I can to this thing for under $1000. Maybe that should be a challenge contest for the forum members. Set a tiny budget and see what can be done. That is what my dad used to do. Scrounge, scrounge, scrounge. Beg and borrow. Not going down the illegal path! I am keeping the original frame, only modifying it here and there. I have already started working on the front of the frame rails. You might be able to make it out in one of the photos. I am trying to get them shaped more like a 32 horn. Then I want to fab up a more traditional front end with an ibeam. I would like to step up the **** and do a transverse leaf back there. I would like to reuse as much as I can off the original truck to save costs. With that in mind, does anyone know for sure if I could or could not reuse the rear ranger leaf springs for the front and rear transverse springs. I am more worried about the rear. If it won't work, would anyone please explain it to me. Suspension is something that still remains a little fuzzy to me, but I am studying it out. I just purchased two grille shells: 1) 1939 DeSoto, and 2) 1939 Hudson. Just waiting on their arrival so I can see which one will look the best. I am going to fab up the grilles myself once I have time. I have a very specific idea on paint now, but it will probably change again tomorrow. As you can see in the pictures, I started playing around with scallops. They are not done yet because I haven't had timew to finish reworking my front fenders yet (molding them into the firewall). I still haven't completely thrown away the original idea of using a vintage truck cab, but it will have to fit into the budget either before the $1000, or after I am done and then start over with a new budget! Well there it is. I took a lot of ragging yesterday, but that is OK. I can take it. I am here to learn and progress.

Later, 4Banger (although I must admit I have been seriously contemplating a flat or 289 now - anyone got one for cheap - and what is a decent mill to start with?). The other thing I am looking for is some kind of cheap steel 15x8 to 15x12 wheels for my rearend. I will be painting them so they just mainly need to be true and not beat to total heck.

good luck, i think the 999 special would fall into your intrest built by the sowhat guys for like 999 dollars and runs a ranger banger-as does some of there other cars. id stongly consider the old truck cab swap and it will help tons and tons, and they can be had for cheap if not free if you look hard enough.

the leafs being turned traverse, im not entirely sure how that will work. im thinking the rear elafs are probably quite a but to long to work in the front and the spring rates and probably preety radicle so put up front it would ride like a brick if you could some how get the leaf to fit inbetween the front tires correctly. no reason you couldnt just keep the parreles in the rear and step the frame behind the cab to get there rear down with the help of some blocks as well

    good luck
