Working on a project and want to take the steering column of the steering box . It is a 40 Ford steering box/column . Somebody have some info about how to take the column off and then have a u-joint between the steering box and steering column . So i will use the same column in the car . There is no shifter on the column . But maybe it has been removed earlier . Sent from my SM-G930F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
pics of what you have in the way of the steering column might help - and intentions with shifting - floor or column
The shaft has a hole in it. Originally for the horn rod or wiring. If you cut it down there's not enough meat to machine for a double D without possibility of collapse.
Hi, I did this on my 47 pickup column, just tapped tube & threaded a bolt into it, then ground down to fit double d joint.
