Anybody heard of this place? I p***ed it as I was making the drive up to Maryland. I'm not looking to pick anything up right now but HOLY BALLS!! There were some amazing rides there. I've also seen some of their prices on a website a while ago and the prices were crazy-cheap. I heard somewhere that you have to pay a "fee" upfront before you can even look at the lot but I might've been mistaken. Anyways, just wondering if anyone has bought anything from this place or what the story is with it.

They used to charge 4 bucks a pop just to look around. Last time I was there the cars weren't cheap. They do have a lot of cars though.

  3. Do a search for Country Cl***ics...

There's a lot of bad experiences and bad blood floating around...a lot of "fresh paint jobs" if I remember correctly...

Ahhh. That makes sense since on their website they have a lot of rides with new paint.

Seems as though what I've heard about them wasn't very good. My opinion on paying to look at cars for sale. NO WAY IN HELL. I'll take my business elsewhere. Ran onto that at Motion Unlimited in Rapid City years ago. I told them No and they were to damn dumb to understand why I wouldn't. I can't understand why anyone would pay to look something for sale.

I MIGHT be able to understand paying a few bucks to look at someones stuff if I knew for sure that I was going to leave with something and if the prices were good enough. If the lot was small and I wasn't necessarily in the market to buy something and just wanted to look then I'd probably laugh in their face when they tried to charge me.

But like I said, I'm not in the market for anything now. I'm balls deep in buying a new house. Just saw some decent looking cars and trucks on their website and was curious.

  8. Not trying to hijack the thread, but the Imperial Palace in Vegas charges to see the museum, but you can practically trip over free coupons for entry.

The problem is they don't take potential buyers seriously. When I was there a guy came in after apparently a big win, carrying a briefcase and practically had to beg someone to sell him some over-priced Chevelle...couldn't believe it.

By the way some of their stuff is pretty rough too.

-I live in Illinois, and have stopped there a few times. I think they charge a coupla' bucks to get in, (unless they've raised it). I pay it, and take my kid in to see the "cool old cars" they have for sale. The lot is just like anywhere...there are some nice cars, and some clunkers. It's always buyer beware, no matter where you go. I really don't think they are intentionally out to screw anyone. Now, some of the cars are there on consignment, so...who knows who you're dealing with in those cases. Hell, if I don't have time to stop in, it's still a blast trying to rubberneck while driving past at 75...

I live near St. Louis, and have been through there MANY times... As for the fee, it's all of ONE DOLLAR the last time I checked. It's the most fun you can have in the middle of nowhere Illinois, for a mere buck... Stop complaining. It's a hoot... He has about 500 or more cars on hand at any given time, and MANY buildings, so yes, his upkeep costs are high... I'm willing to bet he gets over a hundred visitors on some days. Add that up. I know what concrete costs for the kinds of floors he has in those buildings, and I can tell you it's not cheap. So, no, I don't mind a bit paying to stop in there.... BTW, some of the cars are merely there on consignment. No, not many are dirt cheap, BUT he seems to sell LOTS and lots of cars. He has pretty good turnover, so I suspect he's doing something right. I've seen a few cars in there over the years that were in my price range, and I wouldn't be afraid to buy a car from him, although I must admit, I'd prefer seeing it in person first.

Just my $0.02 for the night.

Thats exactly what I tried to do after driving for about 20 hours without sleep while towing another vehicle. Needless to say, after I started running over those annoying little grooves on the side of the highway the wife woke her *** right up.

I totally agree! Can you imagine being right on the Hwy, how many tire-kicking idiots he would be inundated with if there were no fee? I'm sure if you bought something, he'd give you your dollar back...:D

I've been there a couple times myself. When we call ahead and make arrangements the car club I belong to will all get in free. Lots of neat stuff. Some things are nice, some not so nice. some things are priced right, some overpriced. As with buyiing an old car, always get a good inspection or honest report before putting money down. They have satified customers and also those who are not satisfied. The dissatifaction I know about happened because the people did not do a close inspection, they didn't know what they were buying.

  16. Nothing more annoying than showing someone all around or letting them have the run to open doors and hoods and not close them and spend all morning or all day and not make a dime when they turn out to be some *****ic tire-kicker who thinks you're the Antique Car Walmart. I can see why the guy charges. Heck most U-pull-it yards charge you a buck to get in - it goes to their liability insurance I am sure. And I know one yard that if you believe half the stories, only a dozen or so guys can even get in anymore, because the guy was sued twice - one idiot tripped over a bumper, another got bitten by his dogs. No liability insurance on that one.

As for the paint, I can see that too, I can't believe how many people will look at an old car with less than perfect paint, or no paint, and think it's a piece of ****, and the same people are completely fooled by a coat of primer or cheap paint and a little work to hide the worst of the rust. I painted about half of my Suburban blue with a roller a while back, left the ragged edges around the wheel arches and so on, paint has a bunch of **** in it, and some lady at a gas station asks me if I got it from the Thruway Athority... goes on to say her husband bought one from them in like 1971 when her then new Impala got wrecked, and apparently it was the same shade of blue. I got mine at True-Value.

So I'm sure it's just like any other car lot - if you're smart and know what to look for and look it over damn good, you won't get any surprises.

Isn't that the place that there was a HUGE thread about, maybe last year. Guy bought a car there, and THEN had someone put it up on the lift. The mechanic told him he shouldn't even drive the car out of his shop!
Seems to have been a common story from that place. I believe the state attorney, and BBB got involved. Lots of complaints aboyut them!

They got alot of bad press on the Mustang site too, Something on the order of, They guy wanted paid 50% cash and 50% check. He would not take a check for the full amount for the car.

I see red flags here too. But he does have some cool **** from time to time.

    Buyer beware I guess.

Yes, I guy brought a car at Jefferson swap meet in Wis. and turned out to be from there.

Looked real nice on top and never inspected the bottom side or didn't know what to look for. It handled bad and I thought something like a spring mount broke right after getting home just backing up that's why it went to a shop. Then he found out the frontend was installed wrong and nothing finished welded ,just tack welded and other issues I don't remember. shop quoted him a price that was more than what he paid for it to fix everything and he paid something like $28,000.00.

FYI they are STILL at it. False advertising & lying about the condition of cars.

    Unethical dealership

    1.0
During the height of the Covid pandemic, a family member was sold a vehicle after speaking with Steve, (unfortunately he accepted the sales person's word) which turned out to be an unsafe, illegally repaired, supposedly rebuilt car. Owner refuses to budge from saying that his sales staff NEVER tell people about condition of cars. Even after sending Mr. Noel proof from professional reports, he continues to, in my opinion, lie. Reporting to agencies seems to be ineffective, maybe due to volume of complaints. People need a voice to monitor dealerships like this who will use whatever tactic good or bad, to get one of their cars off their lot. Doesn't seem to be regulations on cars over 10 years of age, which is playing right into their hands.

User's recommendation: Do not recommend - keep driving by.

Be careful. What you see on the Web is not what you get. Went to see a car I saw on the internet. Very pretty pictures and ad says it is restored with nice paint and interior. Runs and drives. Ha! What I saw when I got there was a beat up deteriorating parts car with badly pitted chrome inside and out, lousy paint (truly lousy) filthy dirty, doors that won't open or close, sagged out suspension. The car needed EVERYTHING. And, it did not run, and it looked completely unsafe. A total mess.

This thread should be deleted in its entirety. Nothing but hearsay and speculation by people who have never been there, and never will be. The vast majority being hundreds to over a thousand miles away.

For the record, I have been there, a few times, and no one ‘tried’ to sell me anything. If I had been interested in purchasing a vehicle I am sure a staff person would have been available to accommodate me. But leaving me alone to wander through the inventory at my own pace was exactly what i wanted.

In any case, IMO this ancient ***** session is OT and does not belong here.
