Got the Lokar setup installed. Had to use helper spring to get TV arm to return all the way...Adjusted to 35 lbs with trans in neutral. Lokar says that there should be no slack when removing the adjuster, but if i readjust for no slack, i get about 40 lbs. So adjusted back to 35 with maybe 1/8 inch slack. Useing an Edelbrock carb and have the end of the cable in the proper hole in the Tv bracket. This model of the Lokar TV cable says no TV bracket needed on the carburetor end. What do the experts say....thanks guys for any help
You might want watch this video: Note what he has done at 5:57 makes me wonder if later versions of the Lokar kit are different mine is like in this video. Use of a helper spring is not all that uncommon.
I don't see why the Sonnax adaptor is needed with the Lokar setup on an AOD. I have had that setup on my 53 F100 for a long time with no issues.
It just might be that manifold height may have something to do with that I also have 2" thick heat insulator under the Carb.
Out of curiosity I called Edelbrock and asked the question. As I ***umed they do not think that any additional bracket [other than Lokar] is required. Nor do I.
Thanks guys for the input. I think its ok also. I will just leave as is. I wont be able to road test for a couple of months til i get the interior and doors installed
The one very good point to learn from the video that Jeff attached is the fine adjustment at the bracket after the initial Lokar spacing is set.
I also ran the lokar cable without the sonnax adapter and ran it that way for years, but something was always not quite right. I'm in the process of redoing the setup and I bought the adapter. I'll let you know how it goes.
Educate me please......... What does "TV" stand for? What does the TV cable do?".........I'm guessing it's downshifting the ****** when the gas is hit hard. Is it only for carburetored (sp?), non-computerized motors and transmissions..........my 4.6 with 4R70W does not have one.
The Monster transmission video in the link covers that in more detail plus you can see it being installed.
