50 chevy truck ?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by begborrowandsteel, Jul 7, 2006.

  1. i just checked out a cool 50' truck for sale that was parked down my block, now it had a 6 lug bolt pattern rather than the common five lug, this means that it's a 3/4 ton right???

No, 1/2 ton. Many Chevy trucks up to the 60s were 6 lug. No pics?

  4. Naw, it's a tudor, never known too much about the trucks... only reason i asked was i saw a picture later that night of a stock 1/2 ton with a five bolt pattern, maybe i wasn't looking close enough.

Hey, man. You made my ears stand up with that comment. I'm building a pro street 56 Bel Air for a friend (don't look at me like that:eek: ) and already figured to put the rear axle under my 54 PU. A few days ago I was wondering if the drums and **** from the front would "adapt" to the OEM axle. Care to share any extra info on the subject? I was planning to trial and error the idea but...

Any markings on that 48 PU? I do believe in 48 they had these designations from 1947 which carried thru to 1955:

    3100 - 1/2 Ton
    3600 - 3/4 Ton
    3800 - 1 Ton
