Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by MrBelvedere2, Feb 12, 2009.

  1. I have a request/question of anybody who may have access to parts off of a '55 Dodge Lancer (preferably a two door, but not critical). I'm in need of a full set of stainless trim strips that go down the side of the body. These are to fit on my '49 Ford Coupe... (second picture).. Thanks for your time.. will pay well....
Here is my full website at this link:https://49fordcoupe.smugmug.com/

Here is a picture of the model car showing the trim strips:https://49fordcoupe.smugmug.com/The-Car/i-qCkWgKp/A

Here is a picture of how it mounts/looks on my "original '49" taken in 1961..:https://49fordcoupe.smugmug.com/The-Car/i-FKNkHwX/A

Thanks for your time.. If you might know of somebody else who may have these, please forward this email to them...

Hi Guys, new to this forum but have been snooping around it for years! got a 56 Dodge Kingsway thats under the knife, was badly modified in the past and a long way from original so not worth restoring so i am resto modding it , have a series 3 jag front end under it and a Ford explorer 8.8 in the rear , running a 5.3 LM7 & th400 ( a hemi would have been nice but are crazy money down here in NZ!) am currently tackling some rusty sills with some 1970s repairs with pop riveted & brazed panels straight over the original rusty sills! anyway so since im unpicking around the "B" pillars im wondering how this would look as a 2 door , can anyone tell me what the door length is on a 2 door one of these? cheers

    Hi Aaron
I've seen a 2-door conversion done in NZ before. The cars a red Plymouth Savoy down Morrinsville way. I can put you in touch with the old owner who had the modification done if you like? I have plenty of parts if you need them too (spare parts car plus a whole lot more). I'm in Auckland. coldry@orcon.net.nz.

I have a question about the 55-56 dodge 3 speed manual transmissions. I currently have a 56 coronet with a powerflite; and I know that they are good transmissions, but they are heavier than the standard. Im looking to swap the powerflite out for the manual to help save a little weight. Id rather not buy an adapter and get something that would bolt up and be slightly better. And for whatever reason I cannot find the transmission code for the 3 speed. [IMG]Or if there are any 60-70s 3 speeds that might just bolt up. The goal for the car is essentially; think of the “Paint it Black and Hit the Track” build HRG did, if you havent seen it they have a short summary of the episode on YT. I basically want to do that but with all 50s mopar parts

6 or 8? either way on the 8, and probably the 6, you can use trannys up to '61 for similar engine. '62 & up has bell and crank changes. Q.E.C . (73RR here on the board) has adaptors for the 6 & 8 to use post '61 A/Ts. Sticks probably Wil-Cap or Hot Heads for adaptors.

It is a 270 poly V8, thanks for the info. Do you know what the transmission codes would have been for the 55-60’s 3 speeds? IMG_0981.JPG

No. You can use any tranny behind a hemi, hemi based Poly(that's what you have), or "A" Poly up through the '61 model year, should be out there! . The PF is a 2 speed, to us a modern A/T you'd have to use the S. B. 727 3 speed, would be an improvement over the PF.

The owner spent all his money on the fancy wire wheels and didn't have any left for the twin antenna's on the back.
