I finally got to working on my '47 Chevy coupe. I want to cut a coil and a half off the front coil springs. What is the best way to remove them? A am guessing a spring compressor and grind off rivets? But I thought I'd check here first.

Project plans if you're interested: I have the floor patched, and I am putting on a bolt on disc brake kit. I am planning to run an s-10 rear and behind a 235 with a 3 speed. Going to just be a flat black cruiser.

Wow, thank you so much. That shop manual will be super helpful.
