I posted a thread yesterday about my air compressor not working properly after we had a sever storm and noticed the problem while trying to clean up a pair of axles in the blasting cabinet, I receive a notification that the thread was deleted & I was directed to look for information on the garage journal.

I do my best to avoid off topic threads but I didn't consider this to be one of those.

After the thread was deleted I did a search of the hamb, since when are air compressors suddenly considered OFF TOPIC since we all use them in our garage? there has been 180 threads about air compressors and there have been several different threads about them during the month of March.

Like the moderator suggested I went in search on garage journal and since I am not a regular I am not familiar with the forum I was looking for a dedicated air compressor heading but it became abundantly clear when I hit the search ****on and couldn't find anything.

The garage journal is a good site if your building a garage but the search feature fails to help, even the advanced doesn't give the results found here, it sure ain't the Hamb. HRP

I saw the post last night and you had some replys and when I tried to answer the post was going.

I saw a post this morning that has nothing to do with cars and it hasn't been deleted

And then the long and boring post about family- interpersonal relationships. I think it is Dufus and whiney or such. It's about catching gr***hoppers and poking dead things with a stick ad nauseum. I may have missed it but I do not see the connection with the hallowed traditional hot rods and customs. If some new guy with 26 posts had put that up it would be gone as fast as snot on a doorknob. On the other hand everyone with a hotrod has a compressor in his shop that may need fixun and the garage journal is very difficult to navigate.

I have no idea what the deleted post or your DODGE comments are about. Just a little humor to show my disdain for the report ****on except for spam of course. It opens the door for personality clashes and revenge. I am of the mind set that if I don’t like it I read something else. Besides, PM’s are more civilized. ;)
I also believe that a compressor question is OK. I was curious what the problem turned out to be.

I didn't see a problem with the question but every moderator is different, I would imagine most would have given the thread a p*** since there have been threads similar posted in the past.

If I ever get the information that helps solve the problem I will let you guys know what I did, again I personally think the question wasn't off topic. HRP

I am a Moderator on the GJ so understand you may not be familar with the forum. Join up and post an introduction and then ask what you want about your compressor. You will find a wealth of knowledge on that forum. You will even find we have members that restore compressors. Search is not easy but I am sure you will find what you seek.

  10. Garage journal has a lot of cool stuff. LOTS!
I can’t do much with it but wander around aimlessly like I got ADD or something because I can’t find what I want.
Wanna know what’s funny? That damn Pinterest sends me over to garage journal more than anything.
Plus everyone is in a deservingly bad mood. Someone reported you and mods hit delete. You’ve obviously made some fans, me too.
oh like bolts in the floor,,,

Now at least you got a PM. They deleted mine with nothing.

Editorial decisions are based and addressed on others who reported it as off topic.
One reported it a as a Great Garage Journal question.
So, that's why I posted a "Great Garage Journal Question."

If multiple guys report it - it gets looked at and a Editorial Decision is made to keep or delete.

Is it a Traditional Hot Rod or Custom Car/Truck ?
Is it a story about a Traditional Hot Rod or Custom Car/Truck ?
Is it a question about a Traditional Hot Rod or Custom Car/Truck ?
Is it a person ***ociated with the Traditional Hot Rod or Custom Car/Truck ?

Moderators basically follow those main topic themes above.

As to your comment - Most would have given the thread a p*** since there have been threads similar posted in the past, we can go back 20 years and find a lot of old topic stuff but Moderators just keep "trying" to keep it on
" Traditional Hot Rod and Custom Car / Truck topics."

I see you are a member of the GJ and that you have posted in a similar topic on the same subject so why have you not posted asking a question?

As soon as I get my compressor repaired I will be able to clean up the surface rust from my axles, then I can ***emble the rear end and put it in my hot rod. HRP

We do not have a sub forum and that is just one post asking for something I doubt will happen.

As suggested ask here or post in General Garage discussion. Start a topic as you are a member and as I posted we have members that will help with plenty of knowledge.

The GJ is Vbulletin, which the HAMB was for years. So, searching shouldn't be all that unfamiliar.

I think the problem is more likely that it's vast and compressors are commonly spoken about. However, I guarantee that whatever the issue is, it's been chatted about there ad nauseam.

John, I don't doubt it, I will be the first one to admit I have posted some questionable threads and didn't complain when they were deleted, like I said earlier I was under the impression the tool questions were ON TOPIC, and they have been discussed ever since I joined in 2003.

When I posted the air compressor problem I thought it was ON TOPIC when it was deleted I was told it's off topic, it seemed to me it came out of the clear blue but rules are rules and I will abide by them,
I get it Ryan & Cob have made it perfectly clear go to the another site for that kind information.

We all know the rules about 65 an newer cars and the rules about modern fuel injected motors, big-inch wheels, frame clips, after market independent suspensions.

Wouldn't it be easy to add tools, welders, English wheels, etc. to the off topic list? I feel certain I am not the only one here that was/is unaware of this unwritten rule. HRP
