I was told by a guy at a local cruise night, that there is a diecast car of my sons shoebox.Has antbody seen it,and who makes it? Any collectors out there?
i've never seen a flamed shoebox diecast.... unless he was confused with the older Hotwheels Leadsledz. it's a merc, sorry that's the best i can do.
I think Jada makes a shoebox but not flamed the same, BTW please don't be the guy at the scarhow with a miniature of his own car on the dash. Just doesn't work for some people.
I'm a huge diecast collector, but haven't seen that one. It would be a dream to have a car made by a diecast company. I agree with the Johnny Lightning suggestion... they did my buddies Nova a few years ago.
Or a Tweety Bird, or a Pink Panther, or a crybaby doll... Although I am guilty of having a 2 inch tall Rat Fink on my dash.
Rat fink p***es, especially if you drill him out and mount him as your shifter. there has to be a chopped 149-50 Ford From Hot Wheels.
I don't think there's a shoebox from Hotwheels, chopped or not. I've got a larger scale bone stock diecast that I got from Walmart a couple of years ago, but that's about it. Anyone ever seen an Econoline pickup? Any scale.
or in the right spots! I do Google or Ebay... I found plenty of vans on ebay, and only one truck... its a cla$$ic http://cgi.ebay.com/Nylint-Ford-540...oryZ2655QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Aw man, that's cool. Can't pay $60 for it though. I've got 50+ year old dealer models of my shoebox that I got off eBay and I haven't paid more than $20. I'll keep searching garage sales.
I wonder if any of those Hemi Roadrunner guys ever fired up their car with a stuffed coyote under the hood. It would be funny to see it get caught in the belts and start shooting cotton balls out of there...
Don't worry,no little cars on the dash etc..I ask because a guy approched me at the Primer Nat's and wanted to do a diecast of my car for Muscle Machines new line called "hotrods n customs".I was affraid he went ahead without my consent.I have about 10,000 cars, mostly Hot Wheels,i've had since I was 10.NO they are not for sale!I wanted to suprise my son for X-mas,if one existed.
I saw your sons car on a cell phone one night at a "Hooter's".........and I heard the story......cool car.
That's definitely one of my favorite Hot Wheels, out of the thousands I have. Don't think they make a black flamed one though... the only flamed one I could find is pearl white.
Thanks.I'm in the process of getting a chopped '50 shoebox for my older son.I've been a car nut since I was small, and am excited about sharing it with them.My dad never had any money to buy a cool car, though he wanted to.
Well,I saw the car that the guy had and it doesn't look anything like my sons shoebox. Why?Cause it's a Merc! Another one of those"I have a car just like that",and it's a Mustang.DUH!
I've got EVERY Merc diecast made, around 300 or so. For about the last four years i've only collected Mercs. My friends find them and give them to me too.I really didn't want this to turn into a diecast car thread, cause I thought Ryan would pull it.But i'm sure there are many collectors on the HAMB.
Hot Wheels did make a chopped shoebox like the one thirdyfivepickup posted, but in black primer and green flames. Ill try to dig it out and post pic if you like...
speaking of the Johnny Lightning deal, they had a "your car is the star" contest, and last year an internet buddy of mine from other boards got his flat black Firebird with ghost flames made into a die-cast. here's the car:
i don't see anything wrong with talking about automotive collectibles on here....most all car guys are into miniature cars of some sort. when die-cast collecting got popular, i really didn't dig it because i was into building model kits, and got pretty detailed with them, and just saw die-cast as an easy way out, but i did get caught up with small versions of cars like mine, and all the different custom paint jobs....and now well over 1,000 cars later... i also started the thread on vintage minibikes because to me they go hand in hand with vintage tin....and it seems i was right - many HAMBers dig 'em too. after all, i'm sure i'm not the only one who grew up with hot wheels, model car kits, and maybe a go-kart or minibike that led to the car thing
they probably saw a model car with flames on it and told you that **** at the show.most car show attendants dont know a primered mustang from a neon green deuce with ZZ Top graphix on the side.to them it's an old car and they DEFINATELY saw another like it!i get guys comin up to me all the time at shows to tell me about MY car like they know more about what it is than i do. creepy
