OK, I really the look of the "elongated" front end a lot of your rides have. I wondered if some of you would be willing to post a pic or two showing your rod's stance, and then give a few details like front/rear end setup, wheelbase, width, etc.

I am also ready to throw in the towel on the Rangerod thing. I will continue to use the Ranger cab until I get most of the other work done. I had even thought about pinching the front of the Ranger cab and chopping it. I probably should go ahead and attempt one of thos anyway on the Ranger since it will be the virgin run at it. Better to scrap and Ranger than some early iron. Anyway, unless something better comes along, I wil prabably go ahead and use the Ranger frame. We'll see. If anyone has a low down on a 30's truck cab somewhere fairly close to TN, please drop a line. I have been looking and asking around, but nothing yet. Oh, I did find this one place in middle TN. The guy must have one of each make and model form 1928-1970. And, he will not sell a THING!

    Thanks

Here's mine. It's got a Camaro sub, a 10 bolt rear, is bagged all around - and sitting on the running boards. When I'm driving though it's up about 3-4 inches up front and 2 in the back. I think the 'right' look depends on the car though, I like Hot Rods low with a nice rake to the front, and customs etc lower in the back. I think the Ranger is pretty tough or at least costly to get nice and low. Just my 2 cents.

Standby: First off, I will****ume you read one of my first posts, and that is why you chose to use an idiotic and gay number of emote icons! Really...

Secondly, did you spaz out that bad to the guy that is using s10 frames for the 50's trucks?

Thirdly, in the "intro to the list" Sticky, it mentions that this list is all about spreading the "gospel" of the tradional hotrod. Fair enough. This next section of my reply I'm sure will piss off half or more of you, but it won't be my first go around on that deal, so whatever... here we go: I am 37. I obviously did not grow up anywhere near the era of the early hotrodders. Probably not too many on this list did. I think that that in and of itself would be a pretty interesting stat. Well, continuing on, in my never to be humble opinion, you are either all about the "spirit" of early hotrodding, or you are simply posing. Posing you say!? Good grief man, early hotrodders (like my dad and his brothers in Grand Island, NB) were all about trying to make something out of nothing. Or at best, they were trying to make something more out of something. They were mostly scrounging or fabricating their own parts. And just like today, they were all at different levels in the game. Not all "rods" were V8's. Well, I can't sit here typing all night... the point is, if you want to shun me for starting out with a 1991 ranger and trying to learn a few things before progressing to something more, then you are absolutely NO better than what's his name... Oh yeah, Boyd.

For most of you that have offered good advice and encouragement, thanks. One idiot won't ruin it for me. But I will continue to glean through the awesome amount of info on the list here. Most of you guys are a true wealth of valuable knowledge.

good for you your a freakin saint,
i DONT give a***** what you build, i found this site to have a slew of info also, if you can gain something, more power to ya, but keep the ranger talk to yourself..
and the s-10 pic was "sarcasm" nobody in there right mind would do that***** here...so i hope....

see, i'm a nice guy, its a little late, and there may be some points i may or may not agree on, but this topic is -TABOO-, and i dont care to be the one to argue it myself,

Dude, I was referring to the gentleman that is building some absolutely astonishing , and traditional looking, rods using S-10 frames with fat bodied trucks. Based on the responses I have seen to his pics and posts, he is well accepted here.

Look, I'm sorry about my snap back, but you did piss me off. Been a long day. I am just trying to learn what I can. If the mention of the word Ranger gets under your skin, I apologize.

i am referring to the s-10 pic with the 34 type grille shell on the post that was deleted... i dont care whats under a ride myself, but it should have vintage appeal all around drivin by, lord knows i used my share of "modern" parts to put a old body on the road, just afraid we are gonna start seeing pics of,, "hey look, i chopped my ranger today", if you put old tin back on the road, more power to ya and hope some old tin comes your way, b/c thats what its all about, no use wasting your time on a throwaway vehicle.

    Hey 4Banger,
The only problem with working with what you got is it's usually the same or more work than building what you really want, the box tube frame is a good idea and I would use the engine, trans and rear out of the ranger,..... but you can still find really good deals on 30's to 50's pick up's that would give you a a better start,... chopping or doing major body mods the on newer cars is really a pain and a lot harder to get straight than the heavyer metal on the older stuff,.......... find a farming community neer you and drive the back roads,...... you never know what you'll find. If the Ranger is what you really want to build,..... go ahead with it, but it will be really hard to gain acceptance with the traditional rod guys,............... good luck man. H.W.

Man this could get ugly in a hurry But I think it could be a good topic as for stance and wheel base and such for guys that are building a truck and looking for some ideas. Im not gonna get involved in the argument but heres a pic of my truck. 109 inch WB bottom of doors 4" off the ground and a little bit of rake.
I know alot of guys are kinda down on the hot rod truck thing but lets face it around here truck cabs are about the only thing a guy can find in most cases and even they are not easy to come up with I built mine like I would have a car body if I could have got one and until then it will do just fine.
