Anyone running one of these? I tried one years ago and gave up trying to make it run correctly. Pro’s? Con’s? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Looks like you can put twice the amount of carburettor on a intake just big enough for one. Lots of carb on a restrictive inlet will give nothing but headaches.
You bet! Glad I could help... all kidding aside I used adapters in the 60’s and it always seemed to over carb the engine whether a 4 or 6 and took a lot of drivability away. Finally had the $$ to get the correct manifold and carbs and found the same thing only not as bad..... needed compression and cam...ahhh youth. Today those dual y styled manifolds look great and bring back memories .
I had one and didnt like the fact the air from each carb has to turn through 90cdeg twice and a very sharp angle I ended up making my own adaptor Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
LOL you know that's right. I think that the sling shot intakes are the forerunner to this one and they worked only because the people running them had never had a modern intake. You know what they say, if you have never had steak hot dogs will do just fine. I would run one and deal with its inadequacy for one reason and one reason only to maintain historical integrity. if you run one of these type of intakes it has to do with historic value more than to compete with modern technology .
I have a high rise WEIAND two pit on eBay now. I’m just going to run a stock intake and heads. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I dunno Beaner, but I have read lots of threads where guys running Edelbrock "SlingShots" say they are the best dual carb setups out there. It looks counter-intuitive to me; I don't see how it could even come close to a well set up "Super Dual" manifold. But I never had one, so....... Plus, I just don't like the way they look.
The people running a sling shot was running two eye droppers in place of one eye dropper and the sling shot had the added caveat of smoother out runners as opposed turning square corners. I think more than anything else the slingshot lengthened out the runners. The flathead ford did not have much runner length and it was a low RPM motor which would wan longer runners to perform properly. I actually like the look for a slingshot just because resemble the era, crude and improvised.
My brother, The Tool, ran one on his 60hp. I didn't notice anything special about it. The tool thought it was cool looking. But, then again, he is a tool...
Hahahahaha... I love it. The correct answers aren't always what we want to hear. But the correct answers are what we like to hear... here.
