1952-59 Ford Selling price

I know this is tough to do without seeing it in person but I figured I would ask here and get an honest reply from guys who know these cars. I am selling my 53 Victoria with an automatic transmission. I have done all the body work and paint. I did the top end of the flathead and added heads, 4bbl intake and carb. It has been converted to 12v and I am running HEI ignition which was adjusted to the advance curve for a flathead. It is not a perfect car but a nice looking cruiser. It is lowered 2". It still needs the headliner and carpet done. The seats need to be recovered as they just have seat covers on them now. I was going to ask $14,500 Cnd or $10,200 US. Am I too high, too low? Thanks in advance.

 

That's a really nice car at a really nice price! Is it as clean underneath as it is on top? No rusty/rotted floorboards or crossmembers? Don't know what the market is like in Canada but here in the (expensive) California Bay Area, $10k is a pretty fair price for a cl***ic that looks to be in great condition!

 

Seconded. That would be a steal around here but I don't know the market there.

 

Thanks! The typical front floor, inner and outer rockers were replaced. Also a couple of the cross member ends were replaced. Everything else was solid.

 

Really tough right now due to this pandemic and job losses. Not the best time to be selling but I am not in a hurry. Only selling because I am working on another project and I need the room.

 

I think it’s very fair. A positive and a drawback is it automatic. People today like them but behind a flatty might cause some to rethink its old and costly to repair too some.
The ability to modernize with a C4 and I’d have the info and costs handy just to show what might be a guy from not making a deal.

 

Thanks Jimmy. As a matter of fact I have all the info and prices for the C4/AOD swap for the car as this was an option at one time.

 

the biggest factor would be the quality of the repairs (welding)fit and finish.no reflection on you but there are repairs and then there are repairs huge difference .it does look nice but a shinny paint job can hide a lot of hidden work

 

Those old Ford-O-Matics were pretty rugged if it's working I would just let it stay the buyer may want it original.

 

No offense taken. I hear what you are saying. I have all the repairs do***ented with photos and I am showing the buyer what has been done (properly).

I think that is a good price like you want to actually sell it. For that price you are getting a driving car that looks good but may not be perfect or a show queen. It is very affordable IMO. If you make a kajjiji post or facebook marketplace post post a link and I'll share it.

 

I just want to say thank you for all the advice I have received and all the information I have gleaned from this site. My car sold for near asking price. I will still frequent this site as a lot of information on here is pertinent to all older Fords. Cheers
