Here's some pic's I took last night when my dad got home.He surprised me with the car.He didn't tell me the trade was going through.I thought he took the Impala to a car show after work.I liked the Impala, but this is more what I wanted. That way me and my brother can go to the same shows with my dad,and I won't here"your car's too new" anymore.Look for us at the Primer Nat's.
yeah before I got my 53 all the guys said that my truck was way to new to be a show truck, but the slammed 97 ford has brought home 13 awards thats 13 more that my buddies 57 210 and his freinds 52 truck.
Got a few pic's of both cars this morning. Both HAMBers now,Stumpy and Blutarski.Gotta get some Alliance tags for thier cars now.
Bad Bob - Will you adopt me? I won't complain or even bother you with college expenses. I'll take out the trash and clean the garage and clean my room and do laundry... Sorry blutarsky. LOL. Didn't mean to start anything. I know your rooms a mess though. Your 16! But seriously. Here's a story that I'm embarr***ed to tell. When I was 16 in like 1978 my Dad asked me what kind of cheap car I wanted. I had my head screwed on enough to ask for an old 32 coupe or a five window. Something that was thrashed but that I could work on. Now mind you this was 1978 and I was young and incredibly stupid. (Even stupider than I am now. Just ask my wife.) My Dad unveils my birthday car by walking me out blindfolded into the front yard. And there sits a car from the 1950's that he'd found in a field and traded $400 and a gold wedding band for (he'd found it). It had been owned by some "hippy girls" in the 60's and was painted lime green and covered in Rubbermaid daisies that were green plastic flower decal type things that you put in the bottom of your tub to keep from slipping and falling. The dash and steering wheel were covered in mushroom print shelving paper. And the floor boards were so rusted it was like the Flintstones car - you could place both your feet on the ground while sitting in the driver seat. I was to embarr***ed - the ungrateful stupid son that I was - to drive the car and it sat beside our house under a blue top until it got sold years later. The car was a '51 shoebox. Not terribly popular where and when I was growing up. But a SHOEBOX. What a dumb*** I was! I can still remember how embarr***ed and ungrateful I was on that day. And I'm still embarr***ed by my reaction all these years later. You must be a good son. I was. But I didn't realize how good my dad was until years later. It's a good thing he never saw adoption papers. He did sign a waiver to send me away to the Marine Corps the same year though. So maybe he did adopt me out afterall. I certainly deserved it. 49Lincoln
Yea,I know what you mean.More than awards,I got the cars so we could get into the same shows and hang out with my other buddies with old cars too.Cars shows are soooo political sometimes. The first time we took the '49 shoebox to a show a guy with vinyl graphic flames won best flames,a guy with a 1/2 scale 1900 Buick won best original, and a blown '34 Highboy won best custom.I was pissed! The Buick wasn't even fullsize! After that I don't even pay attention to the awards. It's more fun that way. There is a guy here in O.C.,that has a 86 or 87 Camaro thats just PEPBOYED out.He carries around about 20 trophys with him to all the cruise nights, the latest one from 92 or 93.Everybody laughs at him when he shows up.The car says "FLASH GORDON" on it.Then he gets all pissed when a beautiful Hotrod or Woody wins over him,it's comical!
so bob how excited was he?? stephanie s ready to go cruzin!! i guess ill just stay home cuz im the only one without a car!!
Who said anything about you goin! Does that mean I have to stay home too since your not done with my car? What do you think about the new box?
Cool new Box! Congrats! That makes 5 Shoeboxes more in Yorba Linda in less than a year! Forget going to car shows just stop by Bad Bob's house! Can't wait to see it. I'll be by tomorrow.
Blutarski- congrats on the trade. I watched that Shoebox get built ( Hell I might have even done a little work on it). cool as ride. Flyn called me right after the trade to tell me he has the impala ( I'm sure it was to find out if I was going to buy it). I think both of you are happy and I know your pops is going to help you make that car as bad *** as your borthers ( and your dads). Do yourself a favor....play with that car a little...it is just rough enough for you to play on and learn some serious fabricating skill and yet is bad *** enough for you to roll proudly to any show whether it is Primer Nats or Good Guys... We better see you rolling that thing around everywhere. that car was built to drive the **** out of....you better do it.... Now I gotta get back to work so i can buy Flyns new impala....
