Hey all! I am building my first '31 Model A coupe. I just picked up a set of '35 ford wire wheels for it. What are the do's and don'ts for running these wheels? What mods can or should one do to run these wheels at highway speeds? Thanks! Jeff Sent from my SM-G960U1 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
If you are running '40-'48 brake drums you need to run adapters to account for the fact that the original drums ('28-'35) had a raised area that supported the rim. They will bolt on and look like they fit but they will start to crack over time. See: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/40-ford-wheels-on-a-model-a.750368/#post-8330045 Charlie Stephens
Be sure to spin them and check for out of round and run out before you do any work on them. Charlie Stephens
