There are aftermarket sensors available, but from what I know about them they are not very good and don't last long. Before I get into it, what do you know about the "King-Seeley" gauge system? (It is a system used by Ford and works differently than most gauge systems.)

The usual way to use original 6 volt Ford gauges on 12 volts is to install a voltage reducer on the power to the gauge.

I will repeat : Do some research on the King-Seeley gauge system. If you don't understand the difference between it and the usual gauge systems, you will be forever confused.

BTW, the senders are repairable; I have done it.

I managed over 125 properties for CitiBank in the good old days....best tool I had was one of those laser temp gun sensors I could shoot at the HVAC vents to see what was coming out...and let the *****in person know.

When I was having trouble with a temp gauge - I thought - on an old 318 Poly - never seemed to get hot - pulled the cap many a time with no boil over - but wasn't convinced. A buddy said shoot that thing - with a temp gun - did and that dang old Poly was not getting hot at all.....that old wagon was a beast I should have kept.
