I’m getting a good education on 3x2 Rochesters on a SBC. Bought them from a guy that told me some “Rochester guru” built them ( 1st hint they probably won’t work). Started fresh motor to break in cam and the rear float sticks and floods motor on initial start. Jerk top off fix the float. Restart , run for about 20 min all the while sensing a vacuum leak. Ran kinda so so. Next day pull them off and redo what the “ guru” did. All floats way off, squirters on two carbs blocked and secondary throttle plates not sealing ( vacuum leak). Repositioned the blades and sanded the bores for a better seal. Not 100 percent but pretty close. Haven’t started again but pretty confident they will be at least improved.

I bought a similar set up, so I'll watch. I'm sure to need this information! (mine's still on the bench)

Sometimes you got to do it yourself, so you know they are done with care.

  5. Sounds like the same "professional" that built mine.... I started over and had better luck doing it myself.

I bought a tri-power system from Delbert Allen he was the owner and operator of Tri-Power Carburetion out of Warrensberg MO . He is known as a tri-power guru and shipped his multi carb systems worldwide.
The tri-power system he built for me worked flawlessly right off the bat and starts and runs nicely 10 years later so I guess there are some tri-power gurus out there. Sadly he p***ed a few years ago.

That is interesting to know, because I live about 20 minutes from Warrensburg, Mo and work in that town. I can ask around and see if he had an apprentice or anything.
*Update* their website is still active and I remember now seeing them advertising at a swap meet a few years ago.

I remember him mentioning that some of his family might have worked with him and I bought some pieces from evil bay off of him. If memory serves me correctly he sold under the name stichntan and when I just checked that name they still sell out of Warrensberg MO.

  9. Tri-power37 thanks for the good words about Delbert. I am his grandson and was able to work with him for many years before he p***ed away. I still carry on the Tri-Power Carburetion business on a very scaled back level as I do it more for enjoyment part time. Quality and attention to detail is something he took great pride in when building a system and I make sure anything I put together would be up to his standards.
