My Bel-air has a straight 6 and a Muncie 3 -speed. I'm tracking down wiring problems to get it to start again. it was hot wired to make it run with a wire from the battery to the positive side wiper plug that I guess by p***ed the open circuit to make the car run. Can someone tell me where the neutral safety switch is? Is it inside the column with an opening to the bottom? I converted from the column shift to a Hurst floor shifter. Thanks, Glynn.

I'd surprised to find a NSS on a 3 speed anything. Add a micro switch on the clutch pedal if you think you need a NSS. I put them in Auto cars but not in sticks unless it's a tremec and it already there.

Trace the start wire from the ignition switch, IF there is a NSS the wire will go to it first. Then from there to the starter solenoid. This is normally a purple wire in GM vehicles.

If it does have a neutral safety switch, which I doubt, the other wire besides the purple should be yellow.
