How do I remove the lock mechanism from the handle?

How do I remove the flip cover from the handle?

    I guess that’s two questions....

If it's like the Ford key tumbler that I've seem on 50's Fords, there is a pin that you have to push down. You must have a key to push it down. If no key, have to go to a locksmith

You can drill it out and remove the cylinder, but then you'd need a new cylinder and key.

Thanks for the info guys, but I still can’t figure it out. Do I have to take the little lever off the back first? I’m guessing I do if the lock pulls out the front. Does it just wiggle off or do I have to risk destroying it with a grinder or something? Is the little ****on in the pic below what I should be trying to push down? I can’t get it to move no matter how many degrees I turn the key.

That is the ****on you need to press. You do not need to pull the lever off as the cylinder has a tab on it that fits into a notch in the lever. Put lots of WD or whatever you have in it and keep playing with it. Slowly turn the key while pressing on the ****on and you will find it. Here is a picture of the cyl.

No you don't remove the little lever. There is a slot in the housing that mates with a tang on the cylinder - that is what makes the lever turn.

I can't see the pin in the picture. It usually is in direct line with the key slot and is located near the back. Turn the key to the right and press down on the pin. Use some penetrant on the whole thing.
