Technical My first flathead

If anyone could offer some advice it would be greatly appreciated. I am building my first flathead, (49-53) using a Mercury crank,Isky max-1 cam and plan on installing a Holly 390 cfm 4 bbl.carb.

My question is, will the manual style fuel pump deliver sufficient fuel at the right pressure or should I just go with electric fuel pump?

 

Manual pump will work just fine .

Fuel pump should be fine.
You will need a new distributor with mechanical advance as the original Loadomatic vacuum only unit is not compatible. The original 94 2bbl and the LOM distributor were matched pairs.

get an original pump rebuilt. the new ones are ****

 

I run the stock pump on my 39 with a 276 in engine and Holley 390 carb. Been on 25 years.

 

I like the mechanical pump. Went with a converted GM distributor.
