Weelllll, I'm not going to insult anybody hopefully and won't get my tighty whiteys in a knot but didn't the full floating rod " bearings" to most of us start with the 24 stud engines?...I have a 1940 or so vintage BAA I believe is its designation with full floaters on the rod journals of the crank.....
The full floaters began with the first loose insert bearings on a flathead, in later 36. Known as LB blocks. They were 21 stud.
Such drama, I read all the posts and am totally confused so I have to stop. Hope you find an answer to your question. Pat
Ray, I like it that knowlegable folks like yourself can take a ribbing. + 2.1 in my book (scale goes to 2.2)
Question??? how does the bearing get oil fed to both sides? With the crank providing oil to the ID/journal and escaping from bearing tolerences and side clearence, would the be pressure drop be too much to support the OD of the bearing oiling?
This might be some helpful reading https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/flathead-main-bearings.1104631/ I had a '47 Ford with 59AB engine with full-floating rod bearings. I actually had a couple of bearings de-laminate, causing a rod knock. Drained oil, pieces of bearing came out with the oil. Tore down engine, crank was not hurt at all. New bearings, checked clearances, re***embled, engine ran great.
