Times are always tough in Newfoundland, and folks there are used to working
with what they can find. Some interesting techniques:

Wow, that is some real useful info. I didn't know where it was going when he tacked that panel on the side of the bed but it really makes a daunting task rather simple and helps it come out really nice.

Anyone else notice he wasn't wearing a welding helmet when he MIG'd? Maybe he just closed his eyes when he tacked but I like to see what I'm welding. Good tech.

    That was worth watching.
I have a filler needing to be installed and have been putting that job off for ages.
Now I am inspired to give it ago with much more confidence.

Yep, I noticed that as well as a welding helmet hanging on the wall. I tried closing my eyes and welding a couple of times "like they do on TV" but got welder's flash! Learned my lesson...

But despite that little bit I remember seeing this process a few years back but when I went to look for it again I had no clue how to find it. REALLY glad a proud "lad of the rock" posted this. I think it's as slick as (insert whatever appropriate Newfoundland term now) and will attempt to do the same. One day I have a big project to do and I know this would be the best approach. It fits, as Howie Meeker would say, like a hoop around a barrel!

    Thank you bundoc bob!

"...REALLY glad a proud "lad of the rock" posted this..." Well, this
skilled metal basher is a Newf, but I ain't, unless you mean White Rock.
Thinking this over, I know lots of Newfs, but, you know, I have never met one who was an ****hole. Surely there must be some, but all the ones I have met have been salt of the earth. Just don't try to outdrink 'em.

I agree, I worked with a few and all were great guys except one if he'd been drinking. LOL. They always referred to Nfl as "the rock". And again, thanks for posting the **** welding trick!
